6 Other Badass Lady Heroes for a Birds of Prey Sequel

The Birds of Prey movie is here! DC Comics has fully abandoned their plans to try and repeat the success of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and they are instead just knocking out random character movies for the fun of it! We’re getting a legit, live action movie about the Birds of Prey. How cool is that? Granted, it’s built around Harley Quinn, but she was the best part of Suicide Squad so I am 100% OK with this.

Birds of Prey Sequel List 01

It’s movie time!

Margot Robbie said in a recent interview with Nerdist that she decided to make Birds of Prey instead of Gotham City Sirens because she read the comics and realized that Birds of Prey focused on a lot more obscure characters. Gotham City Sirens is Harley teamed up with Catwoman and Poison Ivy, who are both very popular and well-known characters. Whereas Birds of Prey is going to feature Huntress, Black Canary, Cassandra Cain and Rene Montoya! Being a fan of obscure comic book characters, this is an idea I can absolutely get behind! Let’s show off more lesser known badass lady superheroes!

So join me after the jump for six character suggestions I have for a potential Birds of Prey sequel film!

The New Mulan Trailer Did Not Impress

The Super Bowl also saw a new trailer for the upcoming live action Mulan trailer. And while the previous trailer really touched me, the new trailer was less than impressive. The new trailer focuses too much on the generic action flick of it all.

I like the more dramatic stuff from Mulan. The generic action stuff isn’t as impressive or exciting. I mean, it’ll probably be fun and cool. But I want drama!

Mulan comes out on March 27!

First Look at the Marvel TV Shows!

Last night’s Super Bowl brought with it the prerequisite bunch of nifty commercials. But I’m mostly interested in the new movie trailers and TV spots, and last night was a real treat! Because Marvel delivered the first look at their upcoming live action TV shows on Disney+! Finally, something else to watch to justify the Disney+ subscription!

Behold, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, WandaVision and Loki!

Man, those look great! They look like real movies. I am getting quite excited for what Marvel Studios has in store for us! And Falcon and WandaVision are coming before the end of the year, so that’s super sweet!

Meanwhile, we also got a quick new TV spot for the Black Widow movie, which comes out in May.

All we’re missing is the trailer for The Eternals, but that doesn’t come out until November and Marvel doesn’t like to overload their trailer allotment.

But still, at least the Super Bowl was good for something this year!

They’re Going All In With an Animated Mortal Kombat Movie, Apparently

I just heard of this movie and I think it’s rather silly. The people behind Mortal Kombat are coming out with a new straight-to-DVD animated film called Mortal Kombat Legends: Scorpion’s Revenge. I think the idea is pretty cool, but the execution looks tame.

From that trailer, it looks like they’re just going to do the first Mortal Kombat tournament all over again. How many times do we need this event portrayed? Why does everybody think that’s the most interesting story in Mortal Kombat lore? Hell, the title of the film is about Scorpion, and he seems to be a major player in the movie…why not just do that?

Do the people behind Mortal Kombat really think we care about Liu Kang, Johnny Cage and Sonya Blade? When you’ve got a cool story like that of Scorpion vs. Sub-Zero, why would anybody want Liu Kang to show up?

Last year, I did my own write-up on a plot for a Mortal Kombat movie, one that focused on the second Sub-Zero. He’s a far more interesting character with a far more interesting story than any of the regular Earth realmers. Just putting it out there!

Scorpion’s Revenge comes out this spring.

Jon Stewart is Making a Movie!

I’m a huge Jon Stewart fan. The Daily Show as a formative show during my formative years. So I’m pretty excited that Jon Stewart is making a new movie! Good for him.

It’s called Irresistible and will be about politics.

Could be fun! Could be bad! I don’t particularly care. Jon Stewart’s politics align pretty closely with mine, so I’ll be more than happy to watch him tackle politics in a new comedy.

Irresistible arrives in theaters on May 29!
