Free Guy Looks Good, We’ll Probably Never See It
Ryan Reynolds has a new video game-based movie coming out called Free Guy, in which he’s an NPC who gains sentience when he falls in love with a player character. It looks pretty neat — too bad we may never see it.
So Free Guy is scheduled to come to theaters on Dec. 11. However, in the past 24 or so hours, a bunch of major cinemas have closed their doors and a bunch of major movies — including James Bond, Batman and Dune — have all been pushed back several months, if not entire years. So I think Free Guy and Wonder Woman 1984 are the only movies still scheduled to come out this year…and I doubt that will remain.
But hey, cool trailer.

I Don’t Know the First Thing About Lupin III, But This Looks Fun
Anybody know anything about Lupin III? I don’t know if he’s French or Japanese or what, but he had a CGI movie in his home country…last year, I think? Suffice to say, I am doing absolutely no research whatsoever for this blog post. I’m just sharing the new English dub trailer!
Looks like he’s some kind of thief…and has wacky adventures? That seems about right. Lupin III: The First is coming to select theaters on Oct. 18, and then will be available digitally in December. Looks like I’m waiting until December.

Kang the Conqueror is Coming to…Ant-Man 3?!
Good news, everybody! The Marvel Cinematic Universe production machine is kicking back into some kind of gear! The TV shows have resumed filming, and work is apparently being done on Ant-Man 3 because Deadline has announced the casting of actor Jonathan Majors as Kang the Conqueror!
Marvel hasn’t officially commented on the role, but Deadline isn’t about to report something like this without some confidence. So I would say this is pretty solid casting news.
And it’s cool news, too! Kang the Conqueror stands to be a great villain, and hopefully Majors isn’t just going to be part of Ant-Man 3. Why is he part of a considerably small movie, instead of Avengers 5? Because Ant-Man has led the charge into time travel in the MCU, and Kang is all about that stuff!
Plus, rumors are apparently also swirling that Ant-Man 3 will be a kick-off for the Young Avengers, what with the older Cassie Lang surely getting ready to suit up herself. And Kang was a big part of the Young Avengers.
So this is all exciting news! I haven’t seen Majors in anything yet, but he’s been getting a ton of roles recently. I’m due to start watching him in Lovecraft Country any day now, just gotta get around to starting.

Dune is Going Big or Going Home
There’s a new adaptation of Dune coming out sometime soon — though probably not as soon as currently scheduled, because of the pandemic. But we’ve got our first trailer for the highly anticipated film.
I say “highly anticipated”, but only because I know other people are highly anticipating it. I don’t have a care one way or another. I’ve never read the book and, while I’m sure I saw that first movie at least once, I have no memory of it. So I have no personal connection or degree of excitement regarding Dune.
And, honestly, from that perspective, this trailer is wild and meaningless. It’s a bunch of nonsense. All except for that sandworm scene at the end. That was pretty badass.
