I am Totally Down with the Vibe of The Fantastic Four!
Out of nowhere, Marvel Studios used Valentine’s Day to unveil not only the cast of the upcoming Fantastic Four movie, but also the whole vibe. It’s a retro, ’60s throwback feeling. I wasn’t on board with that idea in general, but after seeing the artwork and logo, I am fully in favor of everything this movie is now giving off.
I love the cast as well. The only person we had fully confirmed at this point was Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards, and I’m fine with that man in any acting role he wants or gets. I’m sure he’ll be great! The others are Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm, Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm and Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm! I knew of all three being at the top of the rumors list, so they’re not a surprise. I love every one of those choices!
I just finished watching season 2 of The Bear last week, and Moss-Bachrach was amazing! If I had watched that season when it came out last year, it would have made my end-of-year list as favorite show of 2023. And then everybody loved Quinn in Stranger Things, so they’re both pretty inspired casting. I’m not as familiar with Kirby’s work, but I’ve obviously seen her in some things like Mission Impossible. So high hopes all around for this cast!
The movie is set to come to theaters on July 25, 2025, so next year. Good times. No idea on the plot yet or the villains. I’d be cool with anybody. I love everything about this first look, down to even the retro jumpsuit look of the costumes Reed and Sue are wearing.

Deadpool & Wolverine Trailer Debuts at Super Bowl
We all knew this trailer was coming. The Super Bowl is a time for many movie trailers, and we all knew that Deadpool 3 was going to be the one to watch. It’s the only Marvel Studios movie coming out this year. It might be the only movie that matters. And the trailer is pretty neat.
Considering how much leaked footage and pictures and promotional materials there have been of Wolverine, I’m surprised they didn’t show more of him in the trailer. Really, we just got a lot of Deadpool in the TVA. At least his suit looks all spiffy and new! And very red! I’ll take it!
Deadpool & Wolverine comes to theaters on July 26.
Next up is the trailer for Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes. And this looks damn good.
That was a great trailer! Showed a lot more of the story, but not all of it. Now we know they’re sort of doing the original movie, with the modern human on the planet. And it just looks damn cool. I’m really excited about this one.
Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes comes to theaters on May 10.
Thirdly, we’ve got Twisters, the random sequel.
This trailer didn’t do much for me. It’s just a bunch of tornadoes again. It was cool when the original Twister came out a million years ago, but can they still be cool? I suppose we’ll find out.
Twisters will be in theaters on July 19.
Lastly, the trailer for the first half of a Wicked two-parter.
I’ve never read the book or seen the play, but I’ve always wanted to. The trailer looks pretty crazy. That key song is in it, of course. It’s a great song. From everything I’ve read, splitting Wicked into two movies is probably a good idea. So I’m for sure excited about seeing this one and finally seeing what all of the fuss is about.
Wicked comes to theaters around Thanksgiving.

Movie Trailer Monday!
Good morning, everyone! It’s another Monday, we’ve all gotta get back to work, and I’ve got a couple other movie trailers to share that came along last week. I still enjoy watching movie trailers, though there isn’t too much to look forward to this year, I don’t think…
First up is The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare from Guy Ritchie.
I was excited for this trailer when I first heard of this movie, but the trailer does nothing for me. The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare is a real, historical group from World War II that started pulling crazy spy nonsense on the Nazis. I think it would make a really interesting movie. But this trailer looks like any standard zany action movie, which is a bit disappointing.
Ah well, could still be fun. The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare comes to theaters on April 19.
Next up is the international trailer for Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire. I think this trailer is better than the trailer I showed last week.
This trailer is just a better overall movie trailer. It’s not drowning in nostalgic callbacks, and actually treats the movie like its own movie. I like that much better. I don’t think the Ghostbusters need nostalgia to carry them through a good movie.
Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire comes to theaters on
6 Obscure DC Characters I Want to See in James Gunn’s New DCU
James Gunn and Warner Bros. are full speed ahead on their relaunch of the DC Cinematic Universe, and I’m all for it. I might be a Marvel Zombie through and through, but I love all comic book companies equally. Plus I really love James Gunn’s superhero movies. He makes hugely entertaining movies, and I can’t wait to see what he’s cooking up.
Gunn announced the casting of Milly Alcock this weekend as the new Supergirl. He’s also announced characters like Metamorpho, Hawkgirl and the Creature Commandoes as showing up. And considering the obscure nobodies he put into his Suicide Squad movie, I think it’s fair to say that Gunn likes obscure characters. I also like obscure characters! So I’ve put together a list of obscure DC heroes and villains I’d like to see somewhere in the new DCU. I don’t care where, and I don’t care who plays them; I just want to see these awesome people show up somewhere!
Join me after the jump for the six obscure DC characters I’d love to see on the big (or small!) screen in the new DCU. And feel free to share your own characters in the comments below!

James Gunn and DC Comics continue their attempts to build a new cinematic universe, and they just announced the casting of Supergirl this weekend. She’s going to show up in the Superman: Legacy movie, and then get her own film, Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow.
It’s Milly Alcock from the Game of Thrones prequel!
I have yet to watch House of the Dragon, so I can’t speak for Alcock’s acting or character presence. But I have the utmost faith in Gunn pulling off this movie and this whole universe. Should be a lot of fun.
Meanwhile, I still need to read the actual comic, Woman of Tomorrow. I read the first few issues when they came out, but then I fell off. I bought the tpb and just haven’t gotten to it yet. I have some time before the movie comes out, right?
