The Top 6 Marvel Armored Bug Characters

A couple weeks ago, I spotlighted the new Marvel villain Murder Hornet because I think that’s a great name to pull out of the horrors of 2020 and turn into a comic book character. I was also tickled pink by Murder Hornet because Marvel has a long history of turning bugs into armored characters. There’s a ton of bug characters — perhaps you’ve heard of Spider-Man? — but Marvel also specifically creates bug-themed armored characters. It’s wild!

Murder Hornet is going to appear in the new Heroes Reborn Big Event coming later this spring. I don’t yet know how much of Heroes Reborn I’m going to read, but I am fairly confident I’m going to get a good look at Murder Hornet and her series, Squadron Savage. And I’m going to keep my fingers crossed that she shows up in the regular Marvel Universe when this is all over. As this List of Six will attest, she’ll be joining a fine pantheon of bug-themed armored characters.

How About Some Great Marvel Trailers?

A bunch of trailers have been arriving on the internet in the past week and I’m severely behind in sharing them! But I’m going to try to get to all of them at some point or another. Let’s start with the absolute best with a pair of Marvel trailers!

We’ve got a new trailer for the Black Widow movie, which comes to both theaters and Disney+ on July 9!

The movie still looks great! Looks to be another exciting and fun Marvel movie. And considering how well Godzilla vs. Kong is doing in theaters, there’s a lot of hope for the Marvel Cinematic Universe when it returns in three months. That’s plenty of time for vaccines to settle in and for this whole pandemic thing to blow over. High hopes indeed!

Next up is a trailer for the Loki TV show, which arrives on Disney+ on June 11!

I’m not as taken with Loki as the rest of the world, but this still looks good and fun! Even Owen Wilson looks fun! So here’s hoping for another successful Marvel TV show. WandaVision was adored. The Falcon and the Winter Soldier is doing really well, I think. There’s a good chance Loki will be even better!

So yeah, Marvel still has products coming out and they should all be pretty fun! Hooray for having more things to watch and enjoy!

Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 4/3/21

What a week! I got some dental work done on Monday and could only eat soft foods — so this big dummy just went out and bought a bunch of pudding and Jell-O cups. They’re not as tasty as I imagined. Thankfully, I had some really good Marvel comics this week! Like a new issue of The Union and X-Men!

Comic Book of the Week goes to Beta Ray Bill #1! I had high hopes for this new mini-series and this first issue blew them out of the water! I’m really looking forward to this adventure with the greatest comic book character in the world!

You can’t deny it

Meanwhile, Godzilla vs. Kong was pretty cool! I saw it on the big screen because movie theaters have reopened in my area, and I had a blast. As always, the moviemakers couldn’t seem to do squat with the human characters, but the monster battles were neat. The logic, script and monster height inconsistencies bugged the heck out of me, though.

Comic Reviews: Beta Ray Bill #1, The Union #4 and X-Men #19.

The Top 6 Giant Monsters in Comics (Who Aren’t Godzilla)

Giant monsters are gonna be fighting this week! Godzilla is going to fight King Kong once again, and it’s bound to be some level of great! Movie theaters are open in my area once again, and I’ll actually get to see this film on the big screen! And not only is Godzilla vs. Kong coming out, but Starro appeared in the new trailer for The Suicide Squad! Giant monsters are all the rage this week, so how about a List of Six about giant monsters?

Godzilla better win

I tried to think of a Godzilla-related List for this week, but I already did one years ago talking about what monsters I’d like to see in the franchise. So unless Godzilla vs. Kong surprises us with an Anguirus cameo, I’m pretty satisfied with monsters — though I wouldn’t mind seeing a modern take on Gigan. So how about a list of some of my favorite giant kaiju monsters from American comic books? Specifically, Marvel and DC superhero comics. I know that’s limiting things, but who has the time and energy to catalogue every giant monster ever? And I’m not counting the Marvel Godzilla comics, because those are pretty generic monsters. I’m talking the best giant monsters that exist in our favorite superhero universes! Let’s do this!

Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 3/20/21

Good news, everybody! I have been vaccinated! Or at least I got my first shot! Movie theaters are reopening and I want to be as safe as possible when I go to see Godzilla vs. Kong on the big screen! That sounds incredibly selfish of me. Anyway, somebody said something about comic books?

Comic Book of the Week goes to Nightwing #78! I’ve decided to give it a try and it was nice. Nothing spectacular, but such was this week in comics in general.

Nightwing is back! With a dog now!

Meanwhile, I very much enjoyed the first episode of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier! Great starting point, great introduction to the characters and hopefully the launch of another fun show! The next bunch of weeks should be a hoot!

Comic Reviews: Iron Man #7, Justice League #59, Nightwing #78, S.W.O.R.D. #4 and Thor #13.
