UN-Forgotten Characters: Phantazia

Sometimes, all you have to do is wait for everything to fall apart. At long last, after years of the Krakoa-era of the X-Men comics, obscure Brotherhood of Mutants villain Phantazia has finally made an appearance. She’s never been a popular character or a major character. But she’s got a damn cool look, and it’s surprising nobody uses her more.

Not that she’s being used now.

There are very, very few good pictures of her on the internet

Still, we’re in the Fall of X crossover now, with Krakoa falling apart. And only now has Phantazia appeared. Was she on Krakoa all along? What’s she doing now? Did she play a hand in the fall? We’re…probably never going to find out.

Join me after the jump for Phantazia’s brief return!

Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 9/2/23

Another week of not many comics, and that’s totally on me. Maybe I just need to read more comics? Hopefully I’ll get the chance, because I am on vacation! It’s also a good week for the new Ms. Marvel revival series.

Comic Book of the Week goes to the awkwardly named Batman/Catwoman: The Gotham War: Battle Lines #1 for an interesting kick off to yet another crossover and yet another war in Gotham City.

They goin’ to war

Meanwhile, Baldur’s Gate 3 continues to go well, though I still remain hesitant to sink any more playthroughs into my life on the off chance they improve the game down the line. I won’t be playing Starfield anytime soon because I don’t have an X-Box and I don’t think my PC can handle it. So that stinks. And in a few days it’s my 40th birthday, so that’s a thing!

Comic Reviews: Batman/Catwoman: The Gotham War: Battle Lines #1 and Ms. Marvel: The New Mutant #1.

Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 8/26/23

Some weeks you just don’t want to read comics. Sometimes a bunch of new comics come out, but you can’t work up the energy to read any of them, especially not when immersed in some Baldur’s Gate 3. But I for sure checked out the Captain America Finale, for one.

Comic Book of the Week goes to Mighty Morphin Power Rangers #111 because the new storyline kicks off in dramatic, exciting fashion.

Yale on a tail

Meanwhile, I am definitely still playing Baldur’s Gate 3, though the bugs are starting to get to me. Some are directly impacting one of my playthroughs, and the internet tells me it gets a bit buggier towards the end. I’m starting to wonder if I should just stop playing and wait another year for the Definitive Edition that’s likely to come out. At least I can watch and enjoy the new Ahsoka show! Which reminds me, I have yet to play that new Jedi game that came out in the spring…

Comic Reviews: Captain America: Finale and Mighty Morphin Power Rangers #111.

Welp, back to the daily grind. No more New York City. No more bruises from the trip. Just a week of nice, normal comics, like Hawkgirl and Uncanny Avengers.

Comic Book of the Week goes to Void Rivals #3 for another enjoyable little chapter in this space saga.

That sure is a void

Meanwhile, still enjoying Baldur’s Gate 3. I’ve got a couple of games running and am very much enjoying myself with the game. I also really enjoyed the Blue Beetle movie and I’ll be disappointed if/when it bombs. We’ll see.

Comic Reviews: Hawkgirl #2, Uncanny Avengers #1 and Void Rivals #3.

Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 8/12/23

If you’re reading this when it posts on Saturday, I should be in New York City visiting Flame Con, the world’s premiere LGBTQ+ comic book convention! I’m going to meet the artist on my next Gamer Girl & Vixen graphic novel. I’ll have more to share about that soon, but it’s her first time on the East Coast, and it makes for a nice day trip for me!

Comic Book of the Week goes to Superman Annual #1 for a whole and hearty issue that does a lot with the ongoing story, while setting up even more! I don’t know if I’ve ever been this excited about Lobo.

Looks like a job for Superman…

Meanwhile, Baldur’s Gate 3 proceeds in spectacular fashion. I’ve currently got three games going, a co-op game with a friend where I’m a wild magic sorcerer, a solo game where I’m a heroic half-orc bard and a third game where I’m going to try to be evil. I normally hate being evil in games, but the evil route seems to have a lot of interesting differences.

Comic Reviews: Avengers #4, Immortal X-Men #14 and Superman Annual #1.
