6 Things That Will Bring me Back to World of Warcraft

I’m a World of Warcraft addict, and admitting I have a problem is the first step. Fortunately, I’ve been on the wagon for awhile now — but that could change tomorrow, when Blizzard announces the next expansion! Considering the last expansion — Warlords of Draenor — was kind of a bust, and that Warcraft has a huge movie coming out next summer, this new expansion could be a pretty big deal.

Especially since the latest numbers have them bleeding subscribers!

But will it be enough to bring me back into the fold? I avoided Warlords like the plague, and most of the discussion I see online has been negative. So Blizzard has a lot of good will they need to make up. Will they go all out with a huge expansion with new characters, lands and tons of content? Will they pop out a quickie expansion that ties into the movie? The game is still going strong after 10 years, but the players didn’t seem to like Warlords, so Blizzard has their work cut out for them.

But I’m only concerned about myself, and I’m not a player who cares about end-game content like raids or PvP Join me after the jump for a bit of speculation on the new expansion, and six new additions to the game that would probably convince me to re-enlist!

My 6 Favorite Superhero Movie Costumes

Once upon a time, it was not cool to be a superhero movie. Nowadays, people are gushing about Spider-Man’s next cinematic costume at Marvel, and movie-makers are promising that the X-Men in their new Apocalypse film are going to wear comics-accurate costumes. But back in the day, superhero costumes were too dorky to wear! Do you all remember the original X-Men movie and the matching black leather? That’s what you needed to have to make a superhero movie before they were cool.

Thank God we don’t live in that sort of world anymore!

They were indeed dark days

I have long since given up being a stickler about comic-to-movie adaptations. I’m actually in favor of changes, cosmetic or otherwise, as long as it’s a good movie. I didn’t mind the all-leather X-Men costumes, or that weird homemade costume in the first Amazing Spider-Man, or even the original red leather Daredevil costume. But like everybody else, I’ve got my favorites!

Join me after the jump to see my six favorite superhero (or villain) costumes at the movies!

The 6 Times Jar Jar Binks Was Totally Awesome

I don’t hate the Star Wars prequels. There, I said it. I’m not ashamed of it. I saw all three of them in the theaters and enjoyed the experience each time. Those movies have awesome lightsaber battles, cool spaceships, and they really flesh out the whole Jedi/Sith mythology.

I also don’t have any problem with Jar Jar Binks.

This guy, right here!

Everybody hates Jar Jar Binks. It’s fashionable to hate Jar Jar Binks. But you know what, I never have. I didn’t mind him in The Phantom Menace, and I don’t mind him now. Granted, I totally understand what people don’t like about him and the prequels. I get it, I really do. But me, personally? I don’t mind Jar Jar at all.

In fact, there are at least six occasions in the official Star Wars cannon where Jar Jar Binks is totally awesome! Don’t believe me? Join me after the jump!

6 Musings on Robin in the DC Cinematic Universe

The second full trailer for Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice was released at Comic-Con this past weekend, and my worst fears were realized: Robin is dead. We don’t know how and we don’t know who, but the sight of Robin’s costume covered in graffiti from the Joker confirms the rumors that the Boy Wonder is dead, buried and mourned in the DC Cinematic Universe.

Can we not have nice things?

Must he stand alone?

But I’m not giving up hope, at least not completely. I love Robin too much to give in to sadness and grief. There are going to be a lot of movies in the future. There’s going to be a solo Batman movie directed by Ben Affleck in a few years. There will be sequels and spin-offs, and who knows what else.

So with my Blue Lantern ring clutched firmly in hand, I thought I’d ponder a little about what I’d like for Robin in the DC Cinematic Universe.

The 6 Characters on My X-Men Team

Welcome to Comic-Con Week! The party is rocking down in San Diego, but here I am still shuffling around Central New York. Such is my lot and life, but that doesn’t mean I can’t have some comic book fun! In what’s becoming an annual tradition for Henchman-4-Hire, I’ve decided to spend Comic-Con Week playing one of my favorite games: superhero dream team!

If I was hired to write the X-Men, which characters would I choose for my team? Last year, I did the Justice League, and the year before that it was the Avengers. I’ve also done X-Force, the Fearless Defenders, the Teen Titans and the Sinister Six. But this year, it’s the X-Men!

Maybe you’ve heard of them (and if so, remind Marvel that they exist)

This is a very open-ended proposition, considering how many X-Men teams and squads there have been over the years. Once upon a time, team membership was sacred, but now every single change in writer brings on a new lineup, not to mention all the different X-titles available. There are already dozens of lineups in continuity, so what difference would mine make? Good question! Just trust me when I say it would be an awesome, super fun comic!

Join me after the jump to check out my roster. And please join me in the comments to pick your own! I’d love to hear your ideas.
