My 6 Favorite Comic Book Romances (At the Moment)
Happy Valentine’s Day! And what better way to celebrate this holiday/List of Six timing coincidence than talking about romance in comic books! Romance has been at the heart of a lot of our favorite superheroes. Is anything more solid than the love of Superman and Lois Lane? It’s part of the lexicon!
And while Clark and Lois are still going strong, there’s a wide variety of romances throughout all of comics these days. So in honor of this lovey dovey holiday, I thought I’d share with you my favorite romances in comics! Not my favorite romances of all time, but my favorites that exist now, at this point in time. Romance is always changing, but these are really good!
Please share your own favorite comic book romances — current or of all time — in the comments!
The 6 High-Flyingest Eagle Characters in Comics
Sports, go sports! The Philadelphia Eagles pulled off an upset victory at the Super Bowl this past weekend, and I couldn’t care less. I kid, I kid, but I don’t particularly care about sports or football! I didn’t watch the Super Bowl. But it’s a big, important game, and therefore quality fodder for a post-Super Bowl List of Six!
Eagles are the symbol of America, and are a pretty badass bird in their own right. So you’d think there’d be a lot more eagle-based superheroes. But that’s not really the case! But you can count on me to scour the internet and the back-issue bins to find the six coolest eagle-based characters in comics!
The Top 6 Fishiest Mermen in Pop Culture
I hope The Shape of Water wins the Oscar for Best Picture. It’s such a weirdly cool movie! I saw it this past weekend after waiting months for it to come to my local theater, and it was worth the wait. I’ll settle for the fact that it was nominated for Best Picture in the first place, but a win would be so wild and weird!
The Shape of Water is about a woman who falls in love with a fish-man. It’s a classic movie monster given a love story twist, and it works wonderfully. And it got me thinking about fish-men in particular. The Gill-Man is my favorite of the classic Universal Monsters, so I decided to make a list of the best Mermen in pop culture! And I don’t mean handsome, half-fish style Mermen, like Prince Namor or King Triton. I’m talking the ugly, fish-man-looking weirdos!

6 DC Characters I Want to See in Injustice 3
I am currently stuck in a rut with the DC superhero fighting game Injustice 2. I like the series well enough, but I’ve never been a huge fan of fighting games in general. For this sequel, however, they introduced character leveling and loot boxes, and that’s where I’m stuck. Basically, you now earn new gear and equipment so your fighters can play dress-up!
Injustice 2 is a character redesign game, and I just have to grind through some fights to get new outfits for everybody!
The outfits don’t mean anything. It’s not like I compete on any multiplayer level, or that I’ll be saving the outfits to share with anybody. I just like seeing all the superheroes dressed up in fancy new duds. Hopefully another video game will come along soon to break me out of this loot-grinding rut!
Until then, I’ve got a few ideas for what superheroes and villains need to appear in the next game, should they make an Injustice 3! Join me after the jump for my ideas!
The Top 6 Ground and Earth-Based Comic Book Characters
Everybody needs a hobby. One of mine is this blog, for which I’ve tried to post every day for more than five years now. That’s pretty impressive. But I think I’m going to peak this year, because this is the year that I summon Blog Captain Planet. It starts with a list on the coolest superheroes with the power to control the ground beneath our feet.
Coming up with ideas for these Lists of Six every week can be kind of tough. And sometimes I’ll fall back on an easy choice, like a list of superheroes with similar powers. I once did fire, then water and wind…which leaves Earth and heart! Then I will summon Blog Captain Planet!
Join me after the jump for the top six comic book characters who control the dirt!
