I Want to Be a Super Best Friend Forever!

Even if they’re all girls.

Lauren Faust’s mini-cartoon continues to be the most adorable version of superheroes ever. The second short clip debuted this past weekend, and it’s a little widget about Batgirl rushing to join her best friends Supergirl and Wonder Girl to fight Poison Ivy! Watch it now! Also, it may feature the best animated Commissioner Gordon ever.

And you can rewatch the first clip right here.

The Top 6 Bunny-Themed Comic Book Characters

How is it that in the wide world of superheroes and super-powers, the two most popular characters are based on a spider and a bat? Of all the animals in the world, of all the possible themes and names for great superheroes, everybody loves ‘Spider-Man’ and ‘Batman’ the most? Where’s Lionman? Or Eagle-Man? Why not a Cheetahwoman? But I’m not here to debate the awesomeness of Batman or Spider-Man, I’m here to wonder whether or not there are any rabbit-themed supeheroes!

Want to learn more about this spectacular fellow? Read on!

Today is Easter, but rather than do something weird involving religious stuff, I wrote up a list focused on bunnies! Bunny superheroes (and villains) to be precise! It really is quite the eclectic group, though I couldn’t specifically find any Easter Bunny superheroes – unless you count Rise of the Guardians.

Which I don’t. Check out the list after the jump!

An Animal Man Cartoon is Now a Thing

I’ve cheered the DC Nation animation block on Cartoon Network several times before, and now I’m here to do it again! A tiny snippet of a preview of an Animal Man animated short has hit the web, and it’s just as delightful as the Super Best Friends Forever clips! If not moreso. The ‘theme music’ for Animal Man just squeals “turn me into a full time show immediately!”

Check it out:

Hopefully the full-length clip will be available sometime this weekend.

6 Silly Armored Superhero Costumes

The one constant in the world of superheroes is the colorful costume. Tights, spandex, latex, long johns, leather, pajamas; all superheroes play dress up when it comes to fighting crime. It’s just more fun that way. But in the real world, everybody knows that a big, muscular guy in spandex just looks silly. If a real world Batman was just wearing a pair of gray tights, he’d be no more threatening than a ballerina. Why do you think the movies put Batman in a specialized suit of black armor, or the X-Men wear black leather?

Tights and spandex costumes just aren’t cool, no matter how good they might look when drawn.

Paper, though, always looks good

Which is why, throughout the history of comics, creators have often tried to upgrade a superhero’s costume to make it look more badass. For some reason, this meant changing from spandex to armor, with heavy layers of complicated plating and protection. Yet no matter how good the creators’ intentions, somehow these upgrades looked even worse!  These armor costumes were running rampant in the 90s, and in hindsight, everybody agrees that they looked ridiculous. Superheroes have gone back to tight spandex ever since.

I thought I’d share with everybody some of the more ridiculous armored costume changes in comic book history.

More Arkham City – Harley Quinn’s Revenge?

Rumors and speculation are swirling around the Internet today about new DLC for Batman: Arkham City that will feature all new story segments centered around Harley Quinn! Not only that, but these same rumors indicate that Robin will be a playable character! So that definitely gets my heart all a flutter.

Harley has that effect on nerds

But don’t just take my word for it. Click on over to PS3Trophies.org, where they have uncovered a list of game achievements for the new Harley DLC. This site is pretty reliable, because their skill at uncovering achievements was also the first indication that Nightwing was going to join the game.

You’ll have to scroll down to the bottom of the page to see the new achievements.

The last few DLCs for Arkahm City, involving Robin and Nightwing, both only had 2 new achievements apiece, and both only featured the characters in a series of challenge maps. But if we read those new achievements for the Harley DLC closely, we can see that they indicate something much more than just a challenge map. So could it be new story content?

Example: Breaking and Entering: Find a way into the secret base.

And one of the achievements points to more playtime for Robin!

A Few New Tricks: Use 5 different Quickfire gadgets in one fight as Robin in Harley Quinn’s Revenge.

Unfortunately, there’s no indication when this DLC will come out, what it will entail or how much it will cost. And it seems that Warner Bros. isn’t commenting on the record yet. So who knows when it will come out? All I know is that I’m now incredibly excited! Time to dust off my copy of Batman: Arkham City!
