Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 8/18/08

So I own Avengers: Infinity War now. That’s something, right? Comic book-related? Ah, what do I know, let’s get to the reviews! Iron Man! Multiple Man! Batman!

Comic Book of the Week was a tough call, but I’m going to give it to the latest issue of Batman. Writer Tom King delivers a treatise on Batman’s fallibility, and that speaks to me, as he wraps up his Bruce Wayne on jury duty bit.

Freeze in Jail 01

And the new issue of Dan Slott’s Iron Man wasn’t as amazing as the previous two issues, so Batman edges it out just a little bit.

Meanwhile, the Multiple Man Marvel Legends action figure has arrived in my crummy little apartment. I own this thing. At long last. After blog rants and hoop dreams (Google the phrase ‘Multiple Man action figure’ and my blog shows up twice), I finally own this piece of treasured memorabilia. It’s great!

Comic Reviews: Batman #53, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers #30, Multiple Man #3, Thor #4 and Tony Stark – Iron Man #3.

Have you heard the good news? Kelly Thompson is going to be a major creative player in the X-Men! That’s darn good news! Let’s celebrate by reading Spider-Man, Catwoman, Superman and Domino comics!

Comic Book of the Week goes to the first issue of the newly relaunched Fantastic Four! I’ve never been much of a Fantastic Four fan, but Dan Slott has been on fire since coming off Amazing Spider-Man!

FF is Back 01

Pun intended

Meanwhile, I skipped reviewing Unbeatable Squirrel Girl for the second time in a row because it continues off the trial issue, with which I had several problems. The new issue is all about Squirrel Girl deciding that Kraven the Hunter should be completely absolved of all crimes because she thinks he’s a good person who is dedicated to bettering himself. Forget all previous criminal incidents, and ignore the perfectly legal trial by jury that just took place, if Squirrel Girl thinks you’re a good person, you should totally get off scot free.

Really bad call by the normally level-headed Squirrel Girl.

Comic Reviews: Amazing Spider-Man #3, Catwoman #2, Domino #5, Fantastic Four #1 and Superman #2.

There’s Finally a Robin Beyond!

For awhile now, DC Comics has been continuing the saga of Batman Beyond in comic book form. The cartoon is long gone, but people love Batman Beyond, so it’s still going.

And at long last, we have a Robin Beyond!

Robin Beyond 01

Future slang sucks

Unfortunately, Robin Beyond is not Maxine Gibson, which would have been awesome. Instead, Robin Beyond is Terry’s younger brother, Matt. He’s a bit older now and he joins into the fight to help Terry when he’s overwhelmed. He first suited up as Robin a couple issues ago, using an old costume from the Batcave. But in the latest issue, Batman Beyond #22, Bruce Wayne built him a better, more official costume.

Robin Beyond 02

What a dynamic duo!

Good for him. As longtime readers of this blog are aware, I’m a huge Robin fan, and this is a pretty cool development. I’m not so much of a fan that I’m going to start reading the Batman Beyond comic. I don’t care that much. I just wanted to note this cool development.

And it is pretty damn cool! Though, again, I would have preferred if it was Max.

Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 8/4/18

Light week for reviews this week. I got wrapped up with a couple of things, and it was a pretty light week for me anyway. But we’ve got new Batman, Power Rangers and Captain America, so at least it’s a good week.

Comic Book of the Week goes to the latest issue of Mister Miracle, not least of which for one sequence that beggars belief to exist in a DC comic at all. It has to be seen to be believed!

Miracle Checkout 01

No, not this scene. I’ll show you later.

Meanwhile, a couple different titles might be dropping in and out of my reviews as we go along. I kind of fell behind on a couple of books, which is why Justice League and Immortal Hulk don’t get a review this week. But I’m going to actively keep reading and maybe drop in a review here and there. We’ll see!

As always, if there’s any comic you’d like me to check out or like me to cover full time, just let me know in the comments.

Comic Reviews: Batman #52, Captain America #2, Go Go Power Rangers #12 and Mister Miracle #10.

Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 7/28/18

In fun Sean news, I cashed in some credit card rewards points the other day and splurged on an Amazon comic book shopping spree! I’ve got a whole pile of awesome graphic novels coming my way, as well as the Gwenpool action figure. Because I have a problem.

Meanwhile, we’ve got some pretty fun comics this week, including Bendis’ proper start on Action Comics, which I enjoyed more than Superman, and new issues for both Multiple Man and X-23, one of which I like a lot more than the other, and the answer may surprise me! Comic Book of the Week goes to the first issue of Mr. & Mrs. X because Kelly Thompson finally gave us a comic book wedding we could actually enjoy.

Rogue Bride 01

At least somebody in comics knows how to pull off a wedding

Elsewhere, I am not going to read any of Marvel’s Infinity Wars stuff that’s coming out, no matter how much I like Darkhawk and Richard Ryder as Nova. So whatever shocking things are happening in that stuff is beyond me. I got tricked into reading Civil War II. Never again!

Comic Reviews: Action Comics #1001, Amazing Spider-Man #2, Mr. and Mrs. X #1, Multiple Man #2, and and X-23 #2.
