The X-Corp Comic is Finally Coming!

I have been waiting for this comic since the start of Dawn of X! It’s X-Corp! Writer Tini Howard is going to use Angel, Monet and — l’gasp! — Multiple Man to explore the business side of Krakoa! This comic has been promised for a long time, and now Marvel has finally made an official announcement! X-Corp arrives in May!

I love the sleek cover design

Marvel had this to say to sum up the series:

The deals have been made. Mutantkind is safe on Krakoa. As the Reign of X continues, what are the wants of the mutants who have everything? Leading the charge is X-CORPORATION, headed by CXOs Monet St. Croix and Warren Worthington, a duo as cutthroat and ruthless in the boardroom as they are on a battlefield. But X-Corp needs more than just its figureheads. As Monet sets out to staff their team with some of the brightest and most deviant minds in mutantkind, Warren finds himself in a tense confrontation with one of Krakoa’s first allies who wants to know the truth: on Angel’s wings, will X-Corp crash or soar?

Tini Howard mentions in the article that the book kept getting pushed back, especially with her working on X of Swords. She says it’s gonna be worth the wait, and I believe her! Artwork will be by Alberto Foche, and you can see an upcoming page right here.

And I love the traditional comic book art on the inside!

I don’t know about you, but does that look like Matt Rocks down in the corner?

Multiple Man has long been hinted at as being a part of this series, and he joined Angel and Monet in that Empyre crossover that supposedly served as a precursor to X-Corp. And who better to join a business-minded comic than the Madrox dupe that went off to Los Angeles to become a high-priced entertainment lawyer?

You don’t remember Matt Rocks? He was a supporting character in one of Charles Soule’s She-Hulk comics, circa 2014! That would be a fun cameo! And hopefully regular Jamie Madrox gets to join in as well.

I am very excited for X-Corp and very excited to finally see Multiple Man with a reoccurring role in the Krakoa-era!

My Favorite Quasar is Coming to Guardians of the Galaxy!

And by “my favorite Quasar”, I of course mean Avril Kincaid, the one people know the least about! Why is she my favorite Quasar? Because I care so very little about Quasar and I find her neat! I also pegged Avril Kincaid as the MCU’s best shot at a solo superhero movie with an LGBTQ+ lead.

At any rate, Marvel has been rolling out the extended roster of Al Ewing’s new Guardians of the Galaxy relaunch in April. It seems they’re just going to group together a ton of classic cosmic characters, along with a few wild cards, to make a big Guardians of the Galaxy team.

As you can see, the team has all sorts of neat characters. Doctor Doom is the biggest surprise, and I’m sure he’ll be fun to read. I haven’t read Guardians comics in a while, so all manner of things have been happening that I have no idea about. Hopefully this will make for a good jumping on point.

I have read very little Avril Kincaid, so I hope she really shines and I can solidify her as my favorite Quasar. The original Quasar and Phyla-Vell are also on this team, so there’s a lot of competition for my favorite Quasar.

The 6 Sharpest Sword-Based Characters in Comics

Finally, at long last, I’m playing the video game Ghost of Tsushima. The game was a big hit last summer, but I’d never heard of it and simply didn’t get around to it…until now! I have taken on the role of Jin Sakai as he fights to retake his homeland from invaders, armed only with his family’s legendary katana blade! It’s a great game so far, so I’ve decided to turn it into a List of Six about comic book characters who are based around swords.

So much blade studying on this list!

I don’t just mean characters who use swords. Lots of characters use swords. I mean characters who base their whole identity around swords. Maybe they’ve got a magic sword that grants them their powers. Maybe they named themselves after swords. These are characters who are super duper into swords. And not all of them are katanas. We’re just having fun with swords today!

Join me after the jump for a handful of comic book characters whose, like, whole thing is swords.

Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 2/6/21

What a week! Not only do I have a pile of comics to review, but I also have a big pile of comics to review! Between Future State at DC and my favorites at Marvel, there’s a lot to read and review! Fortunately for me, they’re all largely comics I enjoy, like Far Sector, Future State: Wonder Woman and X-Factor!

Comic Book of the Week goes to the returning Runaways, because that comic is just so precious! Any issue is a reason to celebrate!

Somebody loves them!

Meanwhile, another banger of a WandaVision episode yesterday! I’m definitely going to have to do a review list when it’s all done! Also this week, I’ve been building the Marvel Legends Stilt-Man figure! I can’t believe that’s real! I bought it using the ad money I earn from this site. I only make about $10 a month in ad revenue, and I only get paid by WordPress once I have $100 built up, so payments are few and far between. But I got $100 last month, just in time to go on eBay and start buying individual Stilt-Man pieces! He looks great!

Comic Reviews: Far Sector #10, Future State: The Next Batman #3, Future State: Wonder Woman #2, Harley Quinn & the Birds of Prey #4, Runaways #33, Strange Academy #8 and X-Factor #7.

Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 1/30/21

New week, new comics, the same slowly churning stillness of our reality! But don’t let quarantine or coronavirus get you down too much, there’s still…good comics to read! Like more Future State! And a new issue of X-Men! Have you voted for the new team member yet?

Comic Book of the Week goes to Strange Academy #7! I dropped this series for a couple of issues, but the lack of titles this week led me to get caught up, and I’m so glad I did! This issue had a lot of great moments.

Don’t look under the sheet

Meanwhile, I finished the first season of Ted Lasso and I am in love! That is a great show! Worth blowing your Apple TV free sample — though more seasons are expected. WandaVision remains great. And I’m currently playing Watch Dogs Legion. So life is pretty good for me!

Also, in case you miss it, I’ve decided to take an issue off of reviewing Strange Adventures. The issue is fine, but I don’t know what we’re going to really get until the big finale. Perhaps I’ll pick it back up there.

Comic Reviews: Future State: Dark Detective #2, Future State: Legion of Super-Heroes #1, Strange Academy #7 and X-Men #17.
