Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 10/22/22
Comics, we’ve got comics! New comics! Returning comics! We’ve got everything you could want. From X-Men to the start of GCPD: The Blue Wall. Is it the next incarnation of Gotham Central? Let’s hope so!
Comic Book of the Week goes to Nightwing #97 because it’s just another wonderful caper of an adventure.
Meanwhile, I just finished The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power and I loved it! Fun show, fun use of the material, and a really cool ending. I haven’t seen Black Adam yet, but I will this afternoon. So check back on Wednesday for my thoughts and review on Black Adam.
Comic Reviews: GCPD: The Blue Wall #1, Nightwing #97 and X-Men #16.

Comics! We’ve got comics! And I’ve got reviews of those comics, because why not? My thoughts and opinions are valid! And hopefully nobody is being forced at gunpoint to read my thoughts on the likes of Dark Spaces: Wildfire and Amazing Spider-Man.
Comic Book of the Week goes to Batman Incorporated #1 for a fun kick-off to a new series focusing on a bunch of really interesting characters. I regret not reading that recent comic starring the Knight and Squire.
Meanwhile, I am still buzzing from the season finale of She-Hulk: Attorney at Law! That episode was insane in all of the best ways, and is quite possibly my new favorite thing of all time from the MCU. Once the recency bias wears off, it’s still going to be very high on my list. Come back on Wednesday for my full review/thoughts on the She-Hulk show!
Comic Reviews: Amazing Spider-Man #11, Batman Incorporated #1, Dark Spaces: Wildfire #4 and Jurassic League #6.

What a week! What a week! Daredevil shows up in She-Hulk: Attorney at Law! Werewolf By Night debuts for the MCU! New Black Panther: Wakanda Forever trailer! Life is good for us comic book geeks! Made even better by some excellent comics, like Ant-Man and Captain America: Sentinel of Liberty.
Comic Book of the Week goes to Batman #128 because I am a sucker for good Batman and Robin writing, and a sucker for amazing, action-packed comics!
Meanwhile, that Daredevil episode was definitely the best episode of She-Hulk yet! And we’ve seen so little from the finale that I have no idea what’s coming next! Should be great! The whole show has been perfect! And I started playing TemTem because I needed something to play, and it’s pretty fun, if low key, so far. I’m also on the hunt for a Playstation 5 ahead of some upcoming games. Wish me luck!
Comic Reviews: Ant-Man #4, Batman #128, Captain America: Sentinel of Liberty #5.

For once, I have more than just two or so comics to read and review this week! And yet I’m still not branching out as much as I’d like to non-superhero stuff. I haven’t even read 8 Billion Genies yet! That’s supposed to be very good. At least Ant-Man and Thunderbolts are also very good, as is the first issue of Tim Drake: Robin.
Comic Book of the Week goes to Mighty Morphin Power Rangers #100 for a pretty excellent, perfectly paced and powered, big anniversary issue.
Meanwhile, I’m just about ready to start hunting in earnest for an artist for my next comic book project, Cover Bard. So if you are a comic book artist looking for work or you know one who is, drop me a line and we might be in business!
Comic Reviews: Ant-Man #3, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers #100, Thunderbolts #2, Tim Drake: Robin #1 and X-Men #15.

As some readers may know, I am an aspiring comic book creator myself. And while I’ve got some pans in the fire, I’ve also got friends trying to make it as well. One of those friends is Kristi McDowell, my co-creator on Gamer Girl & Vixen. She and our editor, Jamieson Alcorn, recently launched their latest project on Kickstarter called Fairytales From Mars. It’s an anthology of Martian fairytale stories by a host of awesome creators!
I have a lot of faith in my friends and their comic collection. I haven’t been given any special peek into the project, but I think all the artwork looks amazing.
You can read more about the anthology — and read the 4-page preview — at their website.
Mostly I just want to support my friends and co-creators with their next big project. So I am appealing to you, my readers, to head on over to Kickstarter and pre-order yourself a copy of Fairytales From Mars! I think it’s going to be neat!
