Top 6 Rainbow Superheroes

I’m a little bit late for Pride Month, but this list was fun to put together nonetheless! Rainbows are great. They’re bright, they’re colorful, and everybody still loves them after no doubt seeing them their whole lives. As we all know, rainbows are caused by light refracting through water droplets in the air, usually after it rains. And that image is sometimes used for comic book characters.

Why are there…

Rainbows work as both a costume idea, a way to describe someone’s powers or just a fun accessory for the superhero. They fill a page with color and energy, and bring smiles wherever they go. I knew of some rainbow-based comic book characters already, but the internet is ever giving, and I found even more to fill out this list. And it’s a fun list!

Join me after the jump for six of the more colorful, light refracting off water droplet characters in all of comics!

The Flash, Animated

The Flash movie is gonna be the biggest bomb of all time, so huzzah for that and good luck to Blue Beetle. But The Flash still happened, and there’s plenty of meat to work with for our pal at Tell It Animated! Enjoy his designs of the Flash’s red costume with yellow accents!

Another banger of an episode. Sometimes I wonder if he should better time these things with the actual film release…but I think The Flash came out on digital release recently? And perhaps he wanted to wait to recap the final scenes in The Flash. Either way, it’s an all-encompassing episode that shows off the Flash, as it is supposed to.

Now do Robin!

Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 7/22/23

The weekend is upon us! It’s Comic-Con weekend and so much great news is coming out. Fun trailers, new comic announcements; life is good when you’re gorging on Comic-Con news. And the comics were pretty fun this week as well.

Comic Book of the Week goes to Void Rivals #2 for a strong second issue to this new Energon Universe.

Party-poopers are universal

Meanwhile, I conquered Barbenheimer last night and it was a hoot! Both Barbie and Oppenheimer were phenomenal films, in their own right. Also, this might be the weekend I finally finish off The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. I’ve put this ending off long enough, and I’ve got Baldur’s Gate 3 I can transition to in a couple weeks.

Comic Reviews: Black Panther #2, Hawkgirl #1 and Void Rivals #2.

The 6 Characters on My Legion of Super-Heroes

Who doesn’t love tradition? It’s the week of San Diego Comic-Con, and since I’m not going (again) this year, I’ve decided to indulge in one of my favorite blog traditions: dream casting a superhero team! This year, we’re heading far into the future for my take on the Legion of Super-Heroes.

One incarnation of many

I’ve never been a big fan of the Legion of Super-Heroes, but I recently came up with a fun idea for what I’d do if I were ever hired to write a new Legion book. Hopefully someday that will still happen. And if it does, then you blog readers will have this insight into some of the major twists and mysteries that will drive my comic. I’ve done plenty of lists like this before on Comic-Con week, from the Justice League and the Avengers, to the Fantastic Four, the Thunderbolts and the X-Men. You can see a full list here.

This year, it’s my roster and plot for the Legion of Super-Heroes! Join me after the jump to get the whole scoop. And if you have a dream roster of your own, feel free to share it in the comments below.

Ms. Marvel is For Sure Coming Back as a Mutant

Comics are weird. I’m not the first to say it, and I won’t be the last. But the latest weirdness is the decision by Marvel Comics to, first, kill Ms. Marvel in a random, supporting role in Amazing Spider-Man. Then, second, to have a one-shot comic that came out last week that portrayed her funeral. And now, third, have her come back a few months later as a mutant.

Ms. Marvel: The New Mutant will be coming out at the end of August, a 4-issue mini-series co-written by the Ms. Marvel actor, Iman Vellani, and one of the TV show’s writers, Sabir Pirzada.

Gotta get that X-Men branding in there

Sounds like Kamala Khan is going to be resurrected as a mutant at the upcoming Hellfire Gala. So she’ll be part Inhuman and part mutant.

You can read more about the whole thing at Marvel.com.

Personally, I think this whole thing is a little silly. Ms. Marvel is a super fun character. She should be in an ongoing series at all time. But she hasn’t had one of those in a while. Why? She’s got a TV show, which they’re going to air on network TV soon ahead of The Marvels movie. She’s popular. Can they really not find a creative team with some good ideas for a Ms. Marvel ongoing?

And look, I realize she was introduced as an Inhuman in that really weird time period when Ike Perlmutter was pushing the Inhumans, but this feels like an insane overcorrection. Kill this lovable, awesome teenage character, have an issue dedicated to her freakin’ funeral, and then bring her back to life only a month or so later and tack on being a mutant too? Do they really want to overcomplicate her that much?

Just feels silly to me.
