Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 4/11/15
I’m sorry, DC fans, but I don’t think I’m going to be able to tackle Convergence. I’d considered it, and I read a few of the issues this week, but I have even less interest in covering this beast than I do Batman Eternal Year Two. Now, I am nothing if not easily persuadable, so if there is a Convergence comic you’d like me to review, let me know in the comments. But on my own, these reviews are going to be few and far between.
Such as this week’s Question #1. Greg Rucka returning to Renee Montoya is a dream come true.
In the rest of the comic book world, we’ve got some great books! I highly recommend Kaijumax over at Oni Press, it’s a lot of fun. New issues of Ant-Man and Spider-Woman impressed. And Darth Vader #4 easily won Comic Book of the Week for being one of the most action-packed comics of the year so far. I don’t know if I’ll ever be able to look at Darth Vader the same way again.
Elsewhere in the world, you can check out my review of SHIELD #4 over at Word of the Nerd. That series continues to delight.
This is also the first week in a year when I don’t have an issue of Batman Eternal clogging up my reviews! It’s a good feeling.

Gamer Girl & Vixen: Spreading the Word
Yesterday was a pretty huge day for Gamer Girl & Vixen, my own self-published comic. We’re gearing up for a Kickstarter in May, and the website AfterEllen.com decided to check out our comic and write up an article to help show us off! They are my heroes right now.

But hopefully After Ellen is just the beginning. We’re looking for anybody out there willing to help us spread the word about Gamer Girl & Vixen and gain some more followers ahead of the Kickstarter. Seriously, that you readers would be willing to help me out like this is more awesome than I ever expected blogging to be.

Daredevil Day Continues!
Much like me, the whole rest of the Internet is gearing up for the new Daredevil TV show on Friday. Hopefully my List of Six earlier today will be seen by hundreds of thousands (please share!), but also the fine folks at Shirts.com also got in on the fun with this pretty awesome Daredevil costume chart! 6 Silly Daredevil Villains Who Probably Won’t Appear on Netflix
The new Daredevil TV show premieres in only a few days, and early reviews praise it as a phenomenal show that captures the darkness and the grit that comes with the character. Daredevil is a different sort of program than the humor and action packed Avengers movies, while still maintaining that Marvel quality. Vincent D’Onofrio’s performance as the Kingpin is being hailed as a showstopper.
The story of a blind attorney who fights crime in Hell’s Kitchen, Daredevil has consistently been one of Marvel’s best comics — but there’s probably a lot of Daredevil history that’s going to be left on the cutting room floor.
Lady Bullseye is a real thing
For all the great Kingpin stories out there, and the legendary comic runs by Frank Miller and Brian Michael Bendis, Daredevil had his fair share of silliness back in the day. Characters like the Owl and Gladiator are set to premiere in the first season, and classic foes like Bullseye and Elektra are probably shoe-ins for the second season, but beyond those characters, Daredevil’s Rogues Gallery doesn’t have a very deep bench.

6 Page Preview of Gamer Girl & Vixen #1
It has been awhile since I posted Gamer Girl & Vixen news, so prepare for a mother load! We are proud to present to you a preview of Gamer Girl & Vixen #1. Here are the first 6 pages of our comic. These will be part of the finished product, and introduce both of our main characters.
The first issue is almost complete, and will hopefully be done by the end of the month. From there, we’re planning to finally launch our Kickstarter campaign in May to produce a second issue, and then to print and ship both issues to our backers. We’re nearing the final stretch to get our comic off the ground and into your hands!
But first we need your help! I know some of you readers are fellow bloggers, with your own comic book blogs. If anyone is willing to host these preview pages on their own blog to help spread the word of Gamer Girl & Vixen, please let me know.
