Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 4/4/26

I’m back with more comic book reviews! I missed last week because I was busy and sick, and I missed the Superman/Spider-Man team-up! The shame is immense. But thankfully we’ve got some real bangers this week, like some new Absolute Superman and a new Daredevil run!

Comic Book of the Week goes to Bizarro: Year None #1 for some truly fantastic artwork!

My world is square, so I must spit

Meanwhile, my pals at Very Big Comics have a Kickstarter running for the second volume of the Museum of the Uncanny anthology! These are great creators putting in the good work in the amateur comic trenches, just like me. I had a short story in the first volume! So if you’re a fan of my reviews, please head over and check out Museum of the Uncanny: The Lost Archives and consider backing the project and ordering a copy! Thank you so much!

Comic Reviews: Absolute Superman #18, Batman #8, Bizarro: Year None #1 and Daredevil #1.

Museum of the Uncanny: The Lost Archives are Open!

My favorite people are making more comics! As readers of this blog are aware, I’m a wannabe, amateur comic book maker. And a few months ago, one of my short stories was featured in the Museum of the Uncanny anthology by Very Big Comics. This is my comic-making collective of friends and people and it’s been a blast.

Well they’re back with the sequel: The Lost Archives, featuring even more short comic stories.

I’m not in this one, but I fully support Very Big Comics and everything they do. We’ll be working together to produce some more of my own work in the very near future. So I am spreading the good word to get more people to check out the new volume!

Give it a click, check out some of the short stories on display and consider backing the Kickstarter. The more comics in the world the better, I always say.

Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 3/21/26

Well well well, what have we here? Another batch of comics to review and another bunch of random people from the internet to read them? How delightful. Especially when we’ve got stuff like Wonder Woman and X-Men!

Comic Book of the Week goes to Batwoman #1 for a solid start to a new era at DC Comics. I’m looking forward to a lot of these creator-driven comics.

Good to have Batwoman back

Meanwhile, not much going on in my life. I’m taking a break from video games for a while, though I’m keeping my eye on Crimson Desert. I just watched and enjoyed the second season of Ted and I’m gonna go see Project: Hail Mary at the movie theater this weekend. So I’ve got that going for me, which is nice.

Comic Reviews: Batwoman #1, Wonder Woman #31, X-Men #27, Captain America #8 and Cyclops #2.

Can you believe we got to go another week with new comics coming out? How exciting! Especially since it’s stuff like Power Rangers Prime and the new X-Men United.

Comic Book of the Week goes to Absolute Batman, which is earning it’s once-a-generation, industry-defining status.

“I need an adult!”

Meanwhile, the second volume of The Museum of the Uncanny anthology from Very Big Comics is coming to Kickstarter soon! The landing page is already up, so click the “Notify Me” button to help build some pre-launch attention. I had a short story in the first volume, but nothing in this one, but I will always support my comic-making buds and I hope you do too! Check it out!

Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 3/7/26

What a week, what a week! I was off from work this week and mostly spent my time lounging around not doing much of anything. Good times. I got caught up on a couple of comic series that I’d abandoned a while ago. So that was nice. And we’ve got review for those comics, like Absolute Flash and X-Men.

Comic Book of the Week goes to Batman #7 for doing something new and potentially interesting with the Joker.

He’s got an eyeball thing going

Meanwhile, I hurt my thumb somehow so I couldn’t play anything video games with a thumb stick this week. Instead, I built some LEGO and started watching the final seasons of My Hero Academia. Let’s hope the show ends well. I also watched Strip Law on Netflix and it was good. I like watching these random adult animated shows on Netflix, and this one was particularly weird and wacky in all the ways I like.

Comic Reviews: Absolute Flash #12, Absolute Superman #17, Batman #7 and X-Men #26.
