New Simpsons Documentary to Possibly Be Awesome
I haven’t seen a new episode of The Simpsons in a very long time. I assume that’s probably the case for most of us. But this weekend is giving me cause to watch because Morgan Spurlock has apparently made an hour-long sports documentary about that classic episode Homer at the Bat. It’s the one about softball with all the baseball guest stars!
I love this kind of thing. Making sports mockumentaries about TV shows and movies. Have you ever seen the Space Jam episode of 30 for 30? Hilarious!
And, of course, I can’t leave you with reminders of Homer at the Bat without also linking that great end credits song!

6 Bat-themed Heroes and Villains (Other Than Batman)
Welcome to October, everybody! It’s the spookiest month of the year, and Halloween is my favorite holiday! Every year, I like to do some spooky and horror-themed lists, and this week is about one of my favorites: bats! Those flying foxes are my favorite animal. And not just because Batman is one of the most famous superheroes of all time.
Bats are cool. There’s no doubt about it. But what can you do when Batman already looms large over the world of superheroes? How do you introduce any other bat-themed characters without them being overshadowed by Batman? The answer is apparently that you don’t! There aren’t very many out there, and most of them are some kind of parody of Batman! But I searched and found six pretty cool bat-themed heroes and villains that aren’t connected to that one really well known guy!
First Trailer for Isle of Dogs, Wes Anderson’s New Film
Holy crap, this looks amazing. I don’t know about you henchies, but I am a huuuuge Wes Anderson fan! He’s probably my favorite director. And he’s got a new stop motion animated film coming out on March 23 called Isle of Dogs. This is the first I’m hearing about it, and we’ve got an amazing new trailer!
Holy cow that looks good. Fantastic Mr. Fox, his last stop motion movie, is a masterpiece. And Isle of Dogs looks damn good from the first trailer! I love having a new Wes Anderson movie to look forward to!

There’s a New Pixar Movie Coming Out!
Question for the group: have we passed the point where original Pixar movies are guaranteed to be amazing? I enjoyed Inside Out, sure, but I don’t think it holds a candle to stuff like The Incredibles, Wall-E or any of the Toy Storys. Whereas stuff like Brave and The Good Dinosaur (which I still haven’t seen) disappoint. So when we see the trailer for Coco…are we guaranteed an amazing movie?
It looks amazing, sure! I’ll gladly grant it that. But when we’ve got stuff like Wreck-It Ralph and Moana coming out of Disney, and Kubo and the Two Strings (spoiler alert: he had three strings) from Laika, are we really just going to roll over and let Pixar stay at the top of the hill? I suppose we’ll see when Coco comes out later this year.

Squirrel Girl is Great! Go Read It!
For awhile now, Marvel has been doing this fun cartoon thing where Noah Sterling narrates classic Marvel stories. It’s fun. And now they’ve done a recap of Unbeatable Squirrel Girl, one of my favorite comics!
So watch the cartoon and go read Unbeatable Squirrel Girl by Ryan North and Erica Henderson. It’s great!
