Brace Yourselves for Coyote vs. Acme
Hollywood is weird. I don’t know if you’ve been following the behind-the-scenes nonsense regarding this new Looney Tunes movie, but it’s weird and neat all at the same time. Basically, Warner Bros. made this new animation/live action hybrid movie about Wile E. Coyote (my favorite Looney Tune) suing the Acme Corporation. But Warner Bros. is also in the middle of being gutted for parts and sold off, so the higher ups decided to shelves this movie even though it was already done. There was some outcry, deals were made, and Ketchup Entertainment (dumb name) bought the rights.
And now Coyote vs. Acme is going to come to theaters!
Looks pretty darn good to me! Looks funny, looks looney, looks to have a solid blend of live action and animation, and the trailer does a great job of playing up the anti-corporation angle. I hope people actually go out and see this movie. Nobody went and saw The Day the Earth Blew Up, the recent, fully-animated release starring Daffy Duck and Porky Pig. I got to see that one in theaters! And I was alone in the theater that day! I love when that happens.
Anyway, go see Coyote vs. Acme in theaters on Aug. 28.

I Don’t Like the Look of Space Jam: A New Legacy
I am a longtime Space Jam fan. I saw the original in theaters! I owned the soundtrack! I will fight to this day that Bill Murray’s cameo in Space Jam is the best Bill Murray movie cameo of all time. All that being said, I don’t like the look of Space Jam: A New Legacy.
This trailer came out a week or so ago and it’s just…too much. It’s too crazy. All the colors, all the tunes, all the Warner Bros. properties. A lot of people have compared this trailer to Ready Player One, and it’s an apt comparison. This trailer is nuts!
But isn’t basketball about the fundamentals? Isn’t that a joke? What about the fundamentals of Space Jam? Or the Tune Squad? So yeah, the new movie looks really weird. And c’mon, they ended the trailer with a “Rapping Granny” trope! How despicable!
Anyway, Space Jam: A New Legacy arrives in theaters and HBO Max on July 16!

Everybody Get Up, It’s Time to Slam Space Jam Now!
Space Jam is a cult classic. It is because I say it is. I still remember going to see it in the theaters. And even though I haven’t seen it in awhile, I’m pretty sure it still holds up. Unfortunately, the Honest Trailers people don’t think so!
Pffff, Space Jam features the best Bill Murray cameo of all time. It’s an all-time classic. Wile E. Coyote is an MVP!

Live Action Hong Kong Phooey and Marvin the Martian
Of all the random things you thought you might see today, I bet you didn’t expect test footage from live action versions of Hong Kong Phooey (the #1 super guy!) and Marvin the Martian! What do those two properties have to do with one another? Apparently they’re being made by director Alex Zamm. Or at least the Phooey one is still in production, with some kind of Eddie Murphy attached. Marvin the Martian has been cancelled though. At least according to Bleeding Cool.
