Hulk: Agents of S.M.A.S.H. Is What It Is

I dunno. This cartoon is not for me. Maybe it’s for you, and maybe people will enjoy it. But for whatever reason, I find myself mostly skipping all these Disney-funded Marvel superhero cartoons.

Is it possible that I’ve finally outgrown childish cartoons? I didn’t respond all that strongly Beware the Batman. And I haven’t seen a single episode of Ultimate Spider-Man. Have I really reached the point in my life where I don’t care about superhero cartoons?

Heavy.

First Trailer for That Batman Cartoon That Replaces Robin with Katana

Right off the bat, Beware the Batman has earned my ire. What sort of show replaces Robin with Katana? Honestly!

Beware the Batman premieres on July 13 on Cartoon Network. Apparently it’s going to be about Bruce and Alfred battling newer foes like Professor Pyg. Also, Katana is going to be Alfred’s god-daughter for some reason, and he hires her on as Bruce Wayne’s bodyguard, because he needs one of those. Or I guess that’s going to be the cover story so that Katana can really train as his sidekick (or Alfred’s replacement).

The animation looks fine. The action looks fine. Beware the Batman looks fine. But I cannot stand this gross violation of something that’s not really that important, now I think about it. It’s not like I’m the target audience for this cartoon. Still, a blogger must have principles, and around here we are pro-Robin.

Also, did you see what I did up top with ‘right off the bat’? Nailed it.

Even Newer South Park: The Stick of Truth Trailer!

E3 continues to rattle on without me there, because I guess someone forgot to send an invite out to the lone, independent blogger who sometimes writes about video games. There are a ton of trailers coming out, but I’m going to stick to the games I’m super excited about. Yesterday we had Batman, now we have South Park: The Stick of Truth!

Sweet!

Get Caught Up on The Venture Bros. with Henchman 21!

It’s been three years since we last saw new episodes of The Venture Bros! How is that possible? What TV show operates like that? My blog, which is ostensibly named after Henchman 21, hasn’t even been around for three years!

But whatever, the show returns tonight with a new episode, and to help get everyone caught up, Adult Swim put out this Youtube video of Henchman 21 narrating the first 4 seasons. It’s quite helpful if, unlike me, you don’t watch the reruns on DVD all the time! Enjoy!

New Animated DC Movie Stars the Flash

The Flashpoint Paradox has been known about for awhile, but I haven’t mentioned it. I’ve been falling behind on my DC Animation for some reason. I never got around to reviewing Dark Knight Returns Part 2, and I haven’t even seen Superman Unbound yet. I don’t know what’s wrong with me…but maybe this new film will snap me out of this funk.

I’m exited to see a movie that doesn’t star either Batman or Superman (mostly). Word has it that after the poor showings of the animated Green Lantern and Wonder Woman movies, that Warner Bros. would only allow DC to do animated movies starring either Superman or Batman. Makes sense, I guess, even though I still hold Wonder Woman up as the best animated movie the studio has put out. So it’s refreshing to see the Flash star so prominently in this new film.

I’m also hoping they use this film to start making movies about the New 52 universe. It seems silly that the DC comic book universe and the DC animated universe are not the same thing. What better way to promote the New 52 comics than by animating them? It’s a no-brainer!
