Duke Thomas Gets to be Robin…In a Cartoon About a Talking Batmobile?

Exciting news, Robin fans! DC and Warner Bros are going to make Duke Thomas into a real Robin! He’s not going to be cast to the side as just The Signal. Duke Thomas gets to really be Batman’s sidekick Robin.

And it’s going to happen in a cartoon about sentient Bat-vehicles! Because that’s the world we live in.

None of us are ready

So the show is called Batwheels, and it’s going to basically mash-up all the Bat-vehicles with the movie Cars…though not officially, obviously. They’re just getting the Cars treatment. We’ve got the Batmobile, Batgirl’s motorcycle, Robin’s Redbird car, the Batwing, and a Batman monster truck, because monster trucks are cool.

You can read more about the whole thing, and the voice cast, here.

I’m mostly interested in the fact that Robin will be Duke Thomas in this show. Not Redbird, but Robin. Because Batman and Robin are regular in this new cartoon, it’s just that their vehicles are going to…come alive, maybe? Or are secretly alive, like Toy Story? I do not know.

He looks ready

But yeah, check it out, Duke Thomas as a kid Robin, in full costume! And that’s Cassandra Cain as Batgirl, so kudos on that as well. I’m just excited at the new Robin. I’m ready for Damian Wayne to move on and for someone else to assume the mantle. Hopefully this is a sign of changes to come elsewhere. Granted, the comic book Duke Thomas might be too advanced in his superhero career to be Robin? The Signal is working for him, I guess?

I dunno. I just think it’s neat. I want a new Robin!

Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 9/11/21

Oh what a week, what a week. Where does one even begin? How about by just diving into some comic reviews, like Batman and a new Black Manta series? Sounds good to me!

Comic Book of the Week goes to Mighty Morphin #11 because this comic can do no wrong. Holy cow is this good drama and good storytelling!

Ah, so you’ve been reading Mighty Morphin

Meanwhile, I did finally get around to watch Centaurworld on Netflix. That show was a hoot and a half! Not much else going on with me right now. I’m playing some old video games and trying to find some new, interesting shows to watch. Just livin’ that 2021 lifestyle…

Comic Reviews: Batman #112, Black Manta #1, Champions #9 and Mighty Morphin #11.

Tell It Animated Does Harley Quinn

The Tell It Animated channel on YouTube is one that needs more recognition. This guy is doing great work! So I’m glad to do my part to always share his videos with you, my loyal and random blog readers. Surely we can turn the tide and make this dude famous, right? If it helps, his new video is on Harley Quinn!

Another excellent video! And I’d love one based on Harley Quinn’s video game appearances. Though, as always, my recommendation for his next video is Robin. He’s circling the Batman family tree pretty hard, and there are plenty of good Robin options out there! Early serials, ’60s Batman, Animated Series, Batman Forever, Batman and Robin, Titans, Teen Titans, Teen Titans Go!, Dark Knight Rises; the list goes on and on! Plenty of Robin fodder!

Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 9/4/21

Boy howdy, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings was a lot of fun and it’s good to have another Marvel movie under our belts! Expect my review/thoughts on Wednesday, like usual! Other than that, this was an oddly light week for me, with only a couple of DC Comics to enjoy.

Comic Book of the Week goes to Static: Season One #3 for an all-around really good comic book.

Needs a coat?

Meanwhile, to reiterate, I really enjoyed Shang-Chi and look forward to going again in a couple of weeks when the theater will be less crowded. That should be fun! And not that you have to do anything, but my birthday is on Monday. Just letting you know.

Comic Reviews: Batman: Fear State Alpha #1, Static: Season One #3 and Wonder Girl #3.

Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 8/21/21

We’re two weeks away from Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. Feels good to be super excited about another Marvel movie! Good thing we have plenty of interesting comics to get us through this, like Power Rangers, Nightwing and the start of the Trial of Magneto!

Comic Book of the Week goes to a truly epic Way of X #5. I already loved this book for the philosophy, and then this issue goes and delivers some truly out-of-this-world action!

It has been said

Meanwhile, I had a pretty busy week and wasn’t able to get around to all of my normal comic reviews. After two weeks of nearly bare pull lists, this week had a ton of comics! I had to skip out on Marauders, Iron Man and Supergirl this week, but I hope to get caught up and review their next issues.

Comic Reviews: Nightwing #83, Power Rangers #10, Superman and the Authority #2, Way of X #5, X-Corp #4 and X-Men: The Trial of Magneto #1.
