Someone Discovered the Secret of Happiness

The secret is little kids doing the voices for the latest Avengers: Age of Ultron trailer.

Who knew it would be this easy? Apparently the folks at The Watercooler knew the secret, because they made the above video, and the world is a brighter, better place for it. I know my day is better.

Newest Avengers: Age of Ultron Trailer is Still Amazing!

Here is the third, and probably last, trailer for Avengers: Age of Ultron, which will be in theaters on May 1. This trailer is just as good and amazing as the previous trailers.

Oh man, where to even begin? There is just soooo much in that trailer! Ultron, Avengers, Quicksilver, Scarlet Witch, fights, awesomeness, quips, everybody hanging out in a house for some reason! This trailer was packed to the brim with new stuff! This movie is going to be insanely awesome!

The Spider-Man/Marvel Movie Deal is Finally Happening!

Apparently this news hit super late last night, after I’d already gone to bed. So believe me when I say this is a good start to my day! Marvel Studios and SONY Entertainment have finally reached an official deal for Spider-Man to start appearing in Marvel movies, and for the Marvel production team to help SONY make their next Spidey flick.

A good day indeed

What this means is that Spider-Man is going to appear in Captain America: Civil War, and then possibly future Marvel movies. And when SONY releases their next solo Spider-Man film in 2017, Marvel’s producers are going to have a hand in it, and it will also tie into the larger cinematic universe. They’re going to find a new actor to play Spider-Man, and this pushes a few of Marvel’s other movies back to later release dates.

You can read the full press release here.

Personally, I think this is cool news, but hardly necessary. The Marvel Cinematic Universe was getting along just fine without Spider-Man, and has a lot of big, exciting movies planned. As much fun as a Spider-Man cameo in Civil War is going to be, I wouldn’t want him overshadowing their plans for Black Panther in that film. And I am far far more interested in the Ant-Man, Black Panther, Dr. Strange and Captain Marvel movies than I am about yet another solo Spidey movie (even though I loved both Amazing Spider-Man films).

Plus I’m perfectly happy with Andrew Garfield as Spider-Man, I thought he was great in the role. I would prefer Marvel and SONY just conscript the two Amazing Spider-Man films into the Marvel Cinematic Universe and go from there. Those films definitely fit the Marvel aesthetic. And Garfield could hold his own against Robert Downey Jr. and the others. My only request is that Marvel convince SONY to drop that ‘secret dad’ subplot that the Amazing films were obsessed with.

Who wants a new origin story?

So what do you henchies think? Is this good, bad or are you indifferent? Sound off in the comments!

Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 1/31/15

Nobody panic. Deep breaths. Calm yourselves. I’m just as shocked as you are. Batman Eternal has just released the single best issue of it’s entire 40+ issue run so far. It came out this week and it is very, very entertaining. It helps that Batman Eternal #43 forgoes any focus on the ongoing story and instead delivers an issue where Stephanie Brown and Harper Row hang out and talk about the coolness of Catwoman, but still, it’s progress.

I can’t believe I’m going to say this…but Batman Eternal #43 wins Comic Book of the Week. Wow. That took a lot of effort. There are a ton of very good comics this week, plenty of enjoyable reads. But when I really thought about it, I had to give it to Batman Eternal, because this team-up is a revelation.

I think I’m going to use this panel every time I write a Batman article

Spoiler and Bluebird need to get their own comic after this. They need to go on to team up all the time, the new crime-fighting buddies of the Bat-family. These two need to be the new foundation for the Birds of Prey. Throw in Red Robin for some love triangling and you’ve got the sort of comic that could really matter to people.

I can’t tell if this is a good day or a bad day for comics. Batman Eternal…winning Comic Book of the Week…man. I just don’t know anymore. I can’t even.

While we’re adjusting, feel free to check out my review of Uncanny Avengers #1 over at Word of the Nerd. It was a relatively mediocre start.

Comic Reviews: Batman Eternal #43, Bitch Planet #2, Gotham Academy #4, Harley Quinn #14, Thor #4 and Uncanny X-Men #30.

I Need About Tree-Fiddy

That’s $350, so I can buy the new LEGO Helicarrier from The Avengers. Behold its glory!

This insane piece of awesomeness is one of the largest LEGO models ever made, and will be nearly 3-feet-long on completion. It’s gone a ton of characters and jet fighters and Quinjets to hang out on the two runways. It’s a behemoth of epic proportions, and is once again something I’ll never be able to afford.

Why aren’t I rich yet?

Not that I would have anywhere to put the damn thing once it was built. But just knowing it exists, and looking at all of these pretty pictures, is enough to get me salivating.
