I Don’t Quite Understand the New Avengers Video Game

The first real details of the upcoming The Avengers video game from Square Enix arrived at E3 last night…and I don’t quite understand what I’m seeing. Apparently it’s going to be a “live service” game with a focus on online co-op, where you and three friends play Iron Man, Black Widow, Hulk and Thor in an original Avengers story.

Here’s the main trailer:

There are a couple of smaller trailers out there on the web, including one with Hank Pym. Ant-Man has already been confirmed as future DLC.

But yeah, I don’t quite understand this game. Based on this trailer, I just don’t know what we’ll be playing. It all looks like cut scenes. And this “live service” thing is new to me. I think it’s similar to games like Destiny and Anthem, which I’ve never played. I think they’re these ongoing games, with constant updates to costumes, quests and content to keep people active and playing longer. Like World of Warcraft with its expansion packs every couple of years. At least I think that’s what it is.

I dunno. I haven’t read any articles on this Avengers game that fully explain what’s happening. It looks like just a bunch of wild fighting.

Hopefully we’ll learn more in the future. The game comes out on May 15.

6 Thoughts on Avengers: Endgame

Ten years have come and gone in the blink of an eye. I can still remember the events surrounding that original Iron Man film in 2008, and my going to see it at the midnight release. I can still remember the popularity of that first trailer, and the Onion article mocking that popularity. Oh how far we’ve come, and how how great the journey has been!

I loved Avengers: Endgame 3000.

Av Endgame Review 08

Movie Rating: 10/10 – Fantastic

I have a feeling my thoughts on this film might change as time goes on. I viewed Infinity War a bit more harshly last year than I eventually settled on, and I mellowed out more on Black Panther. The same could happen here. But having seen Avengers: Endgame twice in the opening weekend, I’m very pleased with the film and everything it had to offer. It’s not perfect, and I’ve got some nitpicks, but overall it was everything we could have wanted from the Infinity Saga finale.

Captain America Animated – SPOILERS!

There are MAJOR SPOILERS for Avengers: Endgame in the latest Tell It Animated video. Why the dude behind these videos thought spoiling the movie would be a good idea is beyond me. He definitely didn’t need to spoil anything to go over the history of Captain America costumes in cinema.

But since most of my readers have probably (hopefully) seen Avengers: Endgame, they can get away with watching this vid!

But seriously, if you haven’t seen the movie, don’t watch this delightfully animated video. He gives the whole game away. It’s ridiculous.

Avengers: Endgame is Here!

Avengers: Endgame arrives in theaters today and I’ve got my ticket! I’ll be showing up at least an hour in advance at my local theater to ensure I get one of the good, comfy, reclining seats. So it’s gonna be a long day, with a really rewarding end!

To get us all in the Avengers spirit, here’s a bunch of Avengers videos I’ve been holding onto for a couple weeks! Like this sweet retrospective.

Or How Captain Marvel Should Have Ended by the HISHE people!

Avengers: Endgame is going to rock my socks off, hopefully! Reviews have been stellar, all past movies have been perfect. I feel like I’m in a good place here, people.

I hope you enjoy it too!

6 Different Avengers Teams to Use After Endgame

Avengers: Endgame will be here in only a few days and then a decade of the Marvel Cinematic Universe will reach its conclusion — but that won’t be the end of Marvel movies. Disney and Marvel would be fools to bring this gravy train to a halt. They’ve already got a lot of plans for further Black Panther and Doctor Strange movies, along with finally giving us a Black Widow film, and whatever nonsense they’re planning with the Eternals.

But where does the Avengers name brand franchise go from here? How about a spin-off!

Avengers Spinoffs List 01

All of their contracts are up

I have not yet seen Avengers: Endgame so I do not yet know the state of the team at the end of the film. Who’s dead? Who’s retired? Are the Avengers even still around? Do they still have that sweet compound in Upstate New York? I’ll find out in a few days! But until then, how about we wildly speculate about where the Avengers franchise could go next! Surely the brand name is too famous and popular to let lie. So how about we look back at some classic comic book spin-off Avengers teams and figure out how they could host the next billion dollar franchise!

Join me after the jump for all the possibilities!
