Umbrella Academy Delivers Some Creative Quarantine Marketing

I liked the first season of The Umbrella Academy on Netflix. It was a fun little show, and I’m looking forward to season 2. It’ll be here sooner than we think, thanks to this nifty quarantine trailer which sees the various actors stuck at home.

But stuck at home dancing, in a callback to that nice little dance bit from the first season.

I liked that scene as much as the next person! And I think it’s really clever to have the actors recreate it while quarantined at home as a teaser trailer for season 2. That’s just fun. We’re all in this together, including actors, and they still need to promote the new material coming out. It’s good stuff stuff!

Season 2 of The Umbrella Academy arrives on Netflix on July 31.

The Kevin James Renaissance is Upon Us

Have you been watching all of Kevin James’ new content? It’s great! That’s right, I said Kevin James. I don’t know if it’s a quarantine thing or what, but for the past two months, comedian Kevin James has been reinventing himself on his YouTube channel with a series of deeply funny short films. Not “haha” funny, but darkly, sublimely funny.

Take, for example, his latest Sound Guy sketch from the movie Inception. He plays a sound guy edited into a bunch of movies.

Hilarious. Who knew Kevin James had such depth of comedy? But here he is, cut loose from the rigors of Hollywood and delivering some truly great material!

Definitely worth a quarantine binge!

Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 5/16/20

What’s this? I have more than one comic to review this week? And were I a more diverse man, I’d have a bunch of comics?! The industry is slowly coming back to life with a pile of new digital releases this week, and I was able to catch up on two of my pre-pandemic favorites: Ant-Man and Lois Lane!

It’s not particularly fair to award Comic Book of the Week this week, but I’mma gonna give it to Ant-Man just because I liked that issue better than the other one I read. Both were good comics though. Good enough, at least.

Ant Pam Dies 01

Pam, we hardly knew you

Meanwhile, I continue to busy myself day-to-day with bouts of XCom 2 and Days Gone in video game world. I’m smashing my way through one TV show after another, be it DuckTales, Harley Quinn, Rick and Morty, Dead to Me or, this weekend, the final season of She-Ra and the Princesses of Power. I also finally caved and splurged on some LEGO to keep up my spirits. Stay safe out there, everybody!

Comic Reviews: Ant-Man #4 and Lois Lane #10.

Oh Hey, Check Out This Trailer for Space Force!

I’ve been sitting on this trailer for a week or so now, just waiting for a lazy Friday to throw it up and let everyone enjoy. It’s for Space Force, the new Steve Carell/Greg Daniels joint project coming to Netflix at the end of the month. Looks funny, and I like funny!

I was a huge fan of The Office way back in the day, when it was actually airing on regular, network TV. So I’m excited to see some of those creative people give us another funny workplace comedy. I’m a fan of the genre, especially when applied to weird topics.

Have you seen Death of Stalin yet? That’s also on Netflix, and it is an hilariously dark and bleak workplace comedy about the titular death of Josef Stalin. Highly recommended.

Space Force lands on May 29, which will be here before we know it.

There’s Going to be More Adventure Time, Apparently!

Adventure Time was an amazing show with an even more amazing series finale! I finally got around to watching the end only a couple months ago, and it was phenomenal! But, apparently, that’s not going to be the end, because the new HBO streaming service needs content! So there’s going to be a BMO TV movie!

Looks like fun! Seems to have the same spirit as Adventure Time, especially BMO, who everybody loves! And perhaps this will lead to more Distant Lands TV movies down the line. I have no problem with Adventure Time stories continuing. If they have good ideas and can put good work behind it, I say bring it on!
