Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 7/7/21
This is an interesting week in comics because I only have two to read and review! I’ve started to cut back on how many comics I read a week because sometimes I just don’t want to read everything on my plate, you know? I lost interest in the new Green Lantern series when it blew up the status quo, and I just wasn’t hooked on Crush and Lobo. But that’s perfectly fine when we’ve got new issues of Batman and X-Men!
Comic Book of the Week goes to X-Men #2 for another big screen comic book story. I like the look and feel of this comic, and I hope they can maintain and transition into more long-form enjoyment.
Meanwhile, I loved The Suicide Squad movie and will have my thoughts/review on Wednesday! I’m also loving the New Pokemon Snap free DLC and, oddly enough, I got back into playing Diablo 3 to try out some things I left undone years ago. That’s been neat.
Comic Reviews: Batman #111 and X-Men #2.
Read the rest of this entryY: The Last Man Might Actually Be Real!
Y: The Last Man is one of the greatest comic book stories of all time. It’s a rich, detailed and evocative story about…all sorts of stuff. Look, I’m no good at themes and subtext. It’s a great story and a great comic. I still remember checking out the first tpb because of good word of mouth and then immediately going out and buying the next several.
And we finally have a real, honest-to-god trailer for the upcoming TV show!
Looks pretty cool!
The most shocking thing about this trailer is that it actually exists at all. A Y: The Last Man TV show has been in the works for years at this point. I think Shia LaBeouf was attached to star at one point. It’s one of those shows/movies/adaptations that just never came to be.
But now it’s on its way and will arrive on our screens on on FX and Hulu on Sept. 13! How exciting!

Behold Some Honest Trailers!
I’m feeling pretty lazy on this random Thursday. Got a lot to do today for work and not much else to talk about for blog. So how about some Honest Trailers to randomly watch while the world passes us by?
Like the Honest Trailer for Black Widow.
Or the Honest Trailer for Space Jam: A New Legacy.
Such is the world we are living in that such idle joys are available to watch. They almost seem quaint at this point. I’m pretty sure everybody’s moved over to Pitch Meeting anyway.

6 Things I Want to See in Venom: Let There Be Carnage
The first full trailer for Venom 2: Let There Be Carnage graced our internet this week and I thought it looked pretty neat. I wasn’t too impressed with the first Venom film, but I liked it well enough. And me being a sucker for superhero stuff, I’m definitely going to see the sequel whenever it makes it to theaters.
As with most superhero movies, I do have a list of things I’m hoping to see in the film. Is it a reasonable list? Probably not. Are any of my demands going to come true? Maybe? It’s fun to speculate and hope nonetheless. Like, I hope this movie actually comes out on the scheduled release date at the end of September. I hope the resurgence of the coronavirus doesn’t close down movie theaters again. But mostly my hopes are nerdy comic book related, so let’s focus on those after the jump!

It’s an idle Tuesday with not a lot going on for me to post about. Granted, I’m sure I could do some digging and find something to write about. But instead I’m just going to share some fun Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings videos from last week! Like a new quickie trailer.
And a featurette that just explores the movie a bit more.
Still very excited about this movie. Still very worried that the resurgence of the virus might ruin everything. We shall see! But Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings comes out on Sept. 3. It’s only a month away!
