I Thought Les Miserables Was OK
In related news, somebody made a fun Les Mis song parody.
I love a good song parody, and this one is by Shrimp Burritos, I think. Directed by a guy named Tyler Hamman.
But while we’re on the subject, I thought the Les Miserables movie was OK. It wasn’t as good as the Liam Neeson, spoken-word version from a few years ago. I think the singing was my main problem with it. Everybody sang every single line, and at certain points that sounded ridiculous. I understand that the stage musical is completely sung as well, but it just sounded stupid when they sang simple lines of exposition that would have worked so much better if they were spoken.
Maybe what Les Mis really needs is a half-spoken, half-singing version. Sing the really good songs and then speak the various lines in between. Somebody start making that.
Plus the whole time I was watching the film, I just kept thinking of Les Miseranimals from Rita and Runt.
That’s just a better interpretation all around.
Aquaman, Yes. Robin, Still Don’t Know.
The Aquaman announcement trailer for Injustice: Gods Among Us is the best yet.
I mean, come on, that’s just awesome! Aquaman has been kicking ass in his DCnU series, and now he’s looking to be one of the coolest characters in Injustice: Gods Among Us. He’s the king of Atlantis, baby! Respect that!
Also, still no word on whether or not Robin will be a playbable character. I’m going to hold out hope until we know for sure.
6 Star Wars Characters Who Deserve Their Own Movie
No sooner did Disney announce that they’re definitely planning to make some Star Wars spin-off films than we’ve already got unconfirmed rumors that these movies would be about Yoda, Han Solo or Boba Fett. This means that along with the planned trilogy of Episodes 7, 8 and 9, we’re also going to get some stand alone movies starring specific characters. Seeing as how I’m a big Star Wars fan, this sounds like good news to me.
And being such a big Star Wars fan, I’ve got a few ideas of my own. The great thing about the Star Wars universe is that it’s so full of different and unique characters. Sure Luke Skywalker is the big hero and saved the day, but there are so many other fun characters who deserve the spotlight for once. So here are 6 Star Wars characters that I think should get their own movie. And I’d love to hear some of your ideas in the comments.
The Wario Rap
No one’s got a strut like Wario!
I throw around words like ‘awesome’ and ‘delightful’ a lot, but this song by the Random Encounters team is definitely both. Funny, witty, and with a snazzy, Wario-infused beat, this is professional video game parody at its best! Plus maybe this song will really get stuck in your head.
Toy Fair is a Place I Want To Be
I’ve been to several Comic-Cons, but never Toy Fair, the toys and collectibles trade show that’s held…I actually don’t know with what regularity they hold Toy Fair. Anybody? Well it was definitely held this past weekend, and like some kind of dream, it featured a ton of new toys I absolutely want to buy. But knowing the market for really awesome action figures these days, there’s very little chance I’ll ever actually see any of these in my local Wal-Mart. But I can dream.
I mean, check out this awesome Puck action figure!
As fans of my blog know, I have a big ‘Geek Wall’ in my apartment (which the ladies love, I assure you…right, ladies?). And I’m always looking for awesome new action figures to add to the wall. Besides Puck, what about this fantastic Scarlet Spider! As one of the comics I regularly review, I’ve got to buy this Scarlet Spider action figure. It’s now a life mission.
Join me after the jump for more awesome Toy Fair action figures!
