Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 2/27/21

And so we’ve come to another week of new comic book releases and new comic book reviews! Gotta love it! Some solid comics this week, from X-Men to the last gasps of Future State.

Comic Book of the Week goes to Future State: Dark Detective #4 for a very strong ending to this fun little mini-series. I felt this one really captured what Future State seemed to be about.

Not now, Batman! She has a scathing Tweet to write!

Meanwhile, I’ve dropped U.S. Agent because it’s getting to be too much of a mish-mash for me. I don’t think I fully understand or appreciate what’s going on in that comic, and I’d rather let it go than try to hold on and badmouth it just because I don’t get it.

Comic Reviews: Future State: Dark Detective #4, Future State: Legion of Super-Heroes #2, The Union #3 and X-Men #18.

Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 1/30/21

New week, new comics, the same slowly churning stillness of our reality! But don’t let quarantine or coronavirus get you down too much, there’s still…good comics to read! Like more Future State! And a new issue of X-Men! Have you voted for the new team member yet?

Comic Book of the Week goes to Strange Academy #7! I dropped this series for a couple of issues, but the lack of titles this week led me to get caught up, and I’m so glad I did! This issue had a lot of great moments.

Don’t look under the sheet

Meanwhile, I finished the first season of Ted Lasso and I am in love! That is a great show! Worth blowing your Apple TV free sample — though more seasons are expected. WandaVision remains great. And I’m currently playing Watch Dogs Legion. So life is pretty good for me!

Also, in case you miss it, I’ve decided to take an issue off of reviewing Strange Adventures. The issue is fine, but I don’t know what we’re going to really get until the big finale. Perhaps I’ll pick it back up there.

Comic Reviews: Future State: Dark Detective #2, Future State: Legion of Super-Heroes #1, Strange Academy #7 and X-Men #17.

6 X-Men LEGO Sets We Need to Have

There exists only two LEGO X-Men sets. This is appalling. Once upon a time, Marvel’s CEO was royally annoyed at the X-Men because the movie rights were owned by FOX Studios, so no X-Men products were being made. But all of that is settled. Marvel and Disney own the X-Men again. So why haven’t they worked out more LEGO X-Men sets?

There’s this set and then another one with Deadpool and a helicopter

There are a ton of LEGO Marvel sets in general…but they’re starting to repeat themselves. Everything has either Spider-Man or Carnage or Venom in it. And there are only so many times you can give Spider-Man a new monster truck or helicopter before it becomes ridiculous. How many Hulkbusters does Iron Man need? How many themed motorcycles can they make? The time has come for Marvel and LEGO to embrace the wide world of the X-Men and give the people what they want!

Join me after the jump to see which X-Men LEGO sets the people (i.e. me) want!

Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 8/29/20

Man, RIP Chadwick Boseman. That’s just…so tragic, so terrible. I’m no good at memorializing, so I guess let’s just get on with the comic book reviews…

This week, I read the likes of Hellions, X-Factor and Power Rangers! And the Comic Book of the Week: Legion of Super-Heroes #8. There were a lot of good comics this week, but the Legion issue had a fun art gimmick that makes it pretty special.

Legion Assemble!

Meanwhile, I did not read Three Jokers. I don’t care about the Joker, and I think this retcon is dumb. Maybe when it’s all over, and I can read it all at once, I’ll check it out.

Comic Reviews: Hellions #3, Legion of Super-Heroes #8, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers #53, X-Factor #2 and X-Men #11.

Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 8/1/20

Another week, another pile of enjoyable comics, proving that some aspects of life can get back to some semblance of normal. It’s good to have comics again. We’ve got nice issues of Power Rangers, Legion of Super-Heroes and even X-Men, kind of.

Comic Book of the Week goes to the first issue of X-Factor, possibly because I’m attached to the comic name, even if Multiple Man doesn’t appear in the issue at all. We do get Leah Williams writing the Blob again though! And an actually entertaining Daken!

Be prepared to legitimately enjoy Daken in a comic

Meanwhile, I’ve finally started my reread of the classic Milligan/Allred run on X-Force/X-Statix! I bought the first compendium volume and it is easily holding up after all these years. This comic was so insanely ahead of its time! I can’t even imagine how X-Statix would deal with Twitter.

Comic Reviews: Empyre #3, Legion of Super-Heroes #7, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers #52, X-Factor #1 and X-Men #10.
