My Thoughts on the D23 Trailers for Marvel and Star Wars
D23 was this past weekend, which is the Disney-specific convention where Disney shows off all their good stuff. We got official announcements of X-Men castings, all of which I approve. We got some theme park news. Some Incredibles 3 and Frozen 3 news. Various things. The biggest, best stuff was three new trailers for upcoming Star Wars and Marvel properties, which I’m here to share and discuss!
If you haven’t seen these yet, and come to my blog for cool trailers, then universe bless you, my friend.
First up, let’s go big with Avengers: Doomsday.
Looks good to me! Personally, I think RDJ sounds a little too subdued as Doctor Doom, but the lines are cool as heck. This trailer does a great job of building up Doom as imposing. I can get behind that. Love Pedro Pascal’s anger. I’m very much looking forward to Doomsday and can’t wait for it to arrive!
Avengers: Doomsday comes to theaters on Dec. 18.
Next up, sticking with Marvel, it’s our first look at VisionQuest.
Personally, it’s too cerebral for my tastes. But that’s just an initial reaction to the trailer. I have no doubt that Paul Bettany and James Spader will kill it! WandaVision was great, Agatha All Along was great, so I’ve no doubt that VisionQuest will also be pretty darn great. I believe in greatness. I trust in this creative team.
VisionQuest will come to Disney+ starting on Oct. 14.
Last but not least is our first look at the second season of Ahsoka!
Personally, I was underwhelmed with the first season of Ahsoka. I like the character. I like Rosario Dawson’s portrayal. But I didn’t like where the season ended up. So I’m a bit hesitant. But I think that trailer looks amazing! A TV show is going to have that level of space battle?! Hells yes! I’m also a big fan of Baylan Skoll and Shin Hati, so I hope their storyline really goes somewhere fun this season, even with the actor change. So this trailer did it’s job and got me excited for season two. I’m gonna keep my hopes up.
Ahsoka returns to Disney+ on Jan. 20, so it’s a ways off.
