Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 12/17/22

Interesting week for new comics! Not too much on my read list this week, but I got to try out some new titles that launched from Marvel. There’s a new Invincible Iron Man, by Gerry Duggan, and then Monica Rambeau’s first ongoing solo series. Both are solid starting points.

Comic Book of the Week goes to Monica Rambeau: Photon #1 because I felt it was the stronger, more interesting of the two.

Photon needs a rogues gallery

Meanwhile, I’ve started playing Marvel’s Midnight Suns and it’s pretty fun so far. I loved the X-Com games, and I kinda wish this was more like those. But it’s solid as its own thing, so no real complaints. I’ve also been playing a ton of Marvel Snap, so I’m just up to my eyeballs in Marvel video games right now. I’m also heading to see Avatar: The Way of Water this weekend, so hopefully that will be nice.

Comic Reviews: The Invincible Iron Man #1, Legion of X #8 and Monica Rambeau: Photon #1.

Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 3/20/21

Good news, everybody! I have been vaccinated! Or at least I got my first shot! Movie theaters are reopening and I want to be as safe as possible when I go to see Godzilla vs. Kong on the big screen! That sounds incredibly selfish of me. Anyway, somebody said something about comic books?

Comic Book of the Week goes to Nightwing #78! I’ve decided to give it a try and it was nice. Nothing spectacular, but such was this week in comics in general.

Nightwing is back! With a dog now!

Meanwhile, I very much enjoyed the first episode of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier! Great starting point, great introduction to the characters and hopefully the launch of another fun show! The next bunch of weeks should be a hoot!

Comic Reviews: Iron Man #7, Justice League #59, Nightwing #78, S.W.O.R.D. #4 and Thor #13.

Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 10/24/20

It’s one of those weeks folks, where everything seems to be going wrong. Life stinks and there’s no cure. Ugh. But at least I read some quality comics, like Iron Man, Batman, Spider-Woman and yet a couple more X of Swords comics.

Comic Book of the Week goes to the final issue of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers for an exciting introduction to the new Green Ranger…even if they’re going to keep his identity a secret for now.

He has arrived!

Meanwhile, I just finished up the final season of Kipo and the Age of Wonderbeasts last night and it was fun. Quality show overall. Not too heavy, mostly funny and an all around good time. I highly recommend Kipo and the Age of Wonderbeasts on Netflix.

Comic Reviews: Batman #101, Iron Man #2, Juggernaut #2, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers #55, Spider-Woman #5, Excalibur #13 and X-Men #13.

Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 9/19/20

Good news, everybody! The Harley Quinn cartoon has been renewed for a third season! How wonderful. And oh how we needed good news. Meanwhile, reviews for Batman and a brand new Iron Man relaunch.

Comic Book of the Week goes to Thor #7 because it is legitimately fun and features a whole bunch of Beta Ray Bill! If only the new Iron Man featured a Beta Ray Bill cameo…

Stately

Meanwhile, I skipped the latest issue of X-Men this week. It’s just one big madness-inducing recap of whatever weird new lore Jonathan Hickman is building for Krakoan history? I dunno. He loses me when he delves into this stuff, even more so than when Grant Morrison does it. In better news, I’m playing the Avengers video game finally…though I don’t particularly like it.

Comic Reviews: Batman #99, Iron Man #1 and Thor #7.

Tell It Animated is Back with Iron Man!

It’s been a couple months since we last saw the Tell It Animated guy with his fun videos — and that’s because he apparently spent 500 hours doing this massive Iron Man rundown! Hells yeah!

Another fantastic job! The attention to detail is as great as always, the humor is fun; this guy is doing good stuff. He’s a champion for going through all of those armors.

Who has he got left to do? There’s plenty of Avengers left. Thor and Daredevil had appearances on that live action Incredible Hulk TV show back in the day, so there’s a place to start that’s more than just their modern appearances. Black Widow had a bunch of costume changes across her movies, though he’s probably saving that one for when the Black Widow movie actually comes out. He hasn’t done Wolverine yet.

Lot’s of options to keep this dude busy!
