It’s Happening! Flash and Supergirl Will Crossover!

Announced today by all parties involved, The Flash TV show will crossover in March with the Supergirl TV show, even though they’re on different networks. Fortunately, they’re both executive produced by the same guys, Greg Berlanti and Andrew Kreisberg, and they somehow made this happen! Seeing as how the Arrow/Flash crossovers have been ratings bonanzas, the people at CBS were apparently willing to play ball.

This is great news!

Who knows what this will mean for continuity, but who the heck cares? We can iron out those details later! All that matters is that nerd love and general world awesomeness made this happen, and we’ll get to see more crossovers! I love these things. All the Arrow/Flash crossovers have been great. And there’s going to be legit excitement to see Supergirl meet the Flash. It’s that palpable, geeky energy that made The Avengers movie so much fun.

See, universe? We can have nice things.

Though now I’m going to have to go back and catch up on Supergirl

DC Presents: “How to Make the Vision on a TV Show Budget”

So the first image of Red Tornado from the upcoming Supergirl TV show hit the Internet last week, and, well…I’m less than impressed. It’s made the rounds a lot so far, but I figure I should post it anyway for posterity. Someday, future geeks will dig through the Internet like archaeologists and will hopefully stumble upon my site. They’re going to want to know what I thought about a random TV character in a superhero TV show circa 2015.

Take me to your cleaner

That’s actor Iddo Goldberg in the Red Tornado gear, and, well…just look at the poor guy! Red Tornado is an android in the comics, and I think they’re carrying that story over into the Supergirl TV show. But he’s definitely an android on a budget. The face, obviously, harkens back to the Vision from Age of Ultron. And that suit, jeez. They clearly wanted the segmented look of a good Iron Man armor, but that is clearly just lines painted on felt. That’s not an android body armor, that’s a shirt.

Hopefully it’ll look better in live action. And we better not see a different Red Tornado in Arrow or The Flash, because I’m still holding out hope for a crossover!

6 Things I Want to See on the Supergirl TV Show

I’m excited for the new Supergirl show. Honestly, at this point, I’ll probably be excited for any new superhero show! We’re living in a day and age when superhero shows are amazing. Did you see Daredevil?! So even though Supergirl (or Superman, for that matter), has never been one of my favorite comic book characters, I’m definitely going to watch when her show debuts on CBS in October.

Not like I have anything better to do

And like most superhero TV shows or movies, I have some suggestions. For reasons that I don’t quite understand, Hollywood has yet to hire me to run any of these superhero shows or bring Multiple Man to the small screen. I just don’t get it. But that’s not going to stop me from putting together a wish list for Supergirl. Join me after the jump to find out what I want from the upcoming show!

Feel free to share your own hopes, dreams and fears about Supergirl in the comments.

Supergirl Trailer Hits All the Girl Cliches, But I Still Kinda Like It

CBS is definitely going ahead with a Supergirl TV show, and the first trailer hit the Internet last night. It’s a full six minutes long, so it’s packed to the gills with pretty much everything the show is going to have. Heck, it’s practically an entire episode in and of itself. Go ahead and watch!

The problem is that it looks like nothing but a ‘girly TV show’ cliche! The fine people at io9 sum it up very well. I can definitely see those cliches, but I still liked the trailer in spite of them. In fact, as soon as Supergirl starts using her powers and being heroic, the trailer looks pretty great. It felt really cool watching a female superhero take the lead in an amazing way, for once. Arrow and The Flash have their special effects, but here’s Supergirl catching an airplane! Here’s Supergirl letting bullets bounce off of her as she fights the bad guys. Here’s Supergirl having the fun, real world problems like finding a costume that looks good and a cape that doesn’t get destroyed.

And actress Melissa Benoist looks really good in the role!

Maybe the cliches are just part of the pilot, like the people making the show knew they needed to appeal to the moronic studio executives, so they delivered an easy to swallow pilot. Pilots are not the be-all, end-all of a TV show. I think this one definitely has a chance.

What’d you think? Let me know in the comments!

Our First Look at the New Supergirl TV Show!

Rather than let photographic snoopers spoil the secret, DC Comics and CBS have released a few official images of the new Supergirl costume! It looks pretty great! I guess this show is going to be real, and they’re not going to pull any Smallville garbage by saving the super-suit until the final minute of programming. I like that TV shows are embracing the costumes. Filming for the pilot is already underway. The actress is Melissa Benoist.

I like that they gave her leggings and long boots to go along with her skirt. No need for any unnecessary exposed skin. This is definitely a solid costume. It was designed by Colleen Atwood, who also designed the costumes for Arrow and The Flash, and it would definitely fit into those other shows.

I even like the new S-shield, even if it’s got more blue than normal.

If Supergirl is half as good as Arrow and The Flash, we’ll definitely have the makings of another great superhero show! Consider me finally excited for this show. What do you henchies think?
