Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 11/26/22
Happy American Thanksgiving, everyone! I’m thankful that I can still enjoy new comics that come out, and still have the energy to keep this review column going. I’m thankful people are still reading. I’m thankful for Mighty Morphin Power Rangers and Tim Drake: Robin, among other things.
Comic Book of the Week goes to X-Men #17 for a really nice story about Caliban making friends.
Meanwhile, I’m very much enjoying Pokemon Violet. The open world aspect is more than making up for its graphical problems. So that’s nice. I had a really enjoyable Thanksgiving with the family, and caught up on various pop culture shows, games and movies with my brother. Always a hoot. And then last night, I very much enjoyed the Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special! So awesome! Oh! And tune in on Wednesday for my review of the first season of Andor. Good stuff there.
Comic Reviews: Dark Spaces: Wildfire #5, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers #102, Tim Drake: Robin #3 and X-Men #17.

Big congratulations to my friend and comic writing partner Kristi McDowell for a successful Kickstarter for Fairytales From Mars! And big thanks to everyone here who followed the link and pitched in to the campaign. Always fun when my friends get to live out their comic book dreams. Next up is me next year!
Comic Book of the Week goes to Mighty Morphin Power Rangers #101 because I am easy to please and this is an excellent start to the next era of BOOM! Studios Power Rangers comics.
Meanwhile, I had a big pile of comics to read and review this week, so I skipped the latest issue of Amazing Spider-Man. I’ll get back to it eventually…hopefully. Other than that, I very much enjoyed Black Adam, and I’m eagerly anticipating Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. So life is pretty good in terms of content to enjoy.
Comic Reviews: Mighty Morphin Power Rangers #101, Strange Academy: Finals #1, Thunderbolts #3, Tim Drake: Robin #2, The Variants #4 and X-Terminators #2.

For once, I have more than just two or so comics to read and review this week! And yet I’m still not branching out as much as I’d like to non-superhero stuff. I haven’t even read 8 Billion Genies yet! That’s supposed to be very good. At least Ant-Man and Thunderbolts are also very good, as is the first issue of Tim Drake: Robin.
Comic Book of the Week goes to Mighty Morphin Power Rangers #100 for a pretty excellent, perfectly paced and powered, big anniversary issue.
Meanwhile, I’m just about ready to start hunting in earnest for an artist for my next comic book project, Cover Bard. So if you are a comic book artist looking for work or you know one who is, drop me a line and we might be in business!
Comic Reviews: Ant-Man #3, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers #100, Thunderbolts #2, Tim Drake: Robin #1 and X-Men #15.

Good news, everybody! I have for sure survived my bout with COVID-19. It’s been a terrible two weeks, but I’m down to just the smallest of head congestion symptoms now. Suffice to say, it was pretty crappy having COVID. And just my luck to get it long after the pandemic has settled down around the world.
Comic Book of the Week goes to Dark Spaces: Wildfire #3 for another excellent part of this creative heist tale.
Meanwhile, I’m on the verge of buying Temtem, the knock-off Pokemon game that finally had its full release this month. The game looks tempting, but the knock-off nature is a little unappealing. But then I’ve got no other games coming out until the end of October, and even then I’ll need to finally buy a Playstation 5. So I’m just not sure what to do!
Comic Reviews: Amazing Spider-Man #9, Dark Spaces: Wildfire #3, Godzilla vs. The Mighty Morphin Power Rangers #5 and Jurassic League #5.

Woof. What a lazy week. Normally I like to share funny videos or movie trailers, but I couldn’t find much of anything this week. Oh well, at least we had some nice comics, like Amazing Spider-Man and Power Rangers.
Comic Book of the Week goes to the latest issue of Captain America: Sentinel of Liberty for continuing this strong series — even if it’s all built on one of those retcons where some secret society is behind everything.
Meanwhile, I recently read through all the tpbs of Batman meets the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and they were a lot of fun! That was a quality series, and I’m sorry I missed it when it first came out. Perhaps now I’ll check out the animated version. I also think I’m finally going to play the video game Stray this weekend. The time has come.
Comic Reviews: Amazing Spider-Man #7, Captain America: Sentinel of Liberty #3, Jurassic League #4 and Power Rangers #22.
