I Was Looking for Something Pokemon Related, and This is What the Internet Gave Me

So with the big release of Pokemon X and Y this weekend, I was looking for something Pokemon related to post this week. I looked far and wide for a funny song or a parody – something, anything! And this is what the Internet, in all its glory, provided for our viewing pleasure.

God bless you, Internet. And you too, El Cid. The world is now a better place.

Pokemon X/Y Final Forms Have Been Leaked!

Pokemon X/Y comes out in a little more than a week, and already a few copies have hit stores around the world. People are out there playing Pokemon X/Y as you read this…and that means spoilers! Sure enough, these enterprising folks have gone ahead and evolved the three starters into their final forms, which so far have not yet been officially revealed by Nintendo. But if you’re willing to believe the Internet, then so am I!

Before I saw these final forms, I was dedicated Team Froakie. The frog just looks the best. But then I found out my brother, who you may recognize in the comments some times, is also going with Froakie. So if I have any hope of making this Mills Family Thanksgiving the most Pokemon Thanksgiving ever, I can’t pick the same starter, can I? That would just be ridiculous!

So it looks like…based on these final forms, which I’m posting after the jump…I may have to switch to Team Chespin. Hard to believe, I know, but just look at what he becomes…

Yep, Going with Froakie – New Pokemon Starter Evolutions Revealed

I’m sure everyone is very interested in my plans for the upcoming Pokemon X and Y game, specifically who I am going to choose for my starter pokemon. It’s a pretty big deal, dividing pokemon fans into three distinct camps since the start of the franchise. Are you a fire, water or grass starter? I have been a loyal pokemon player since Red/Blue, and don’t plan on breaking my streak of playing when X/Y comes out on Oct. 12. Based on the initial appearance of the starters, I decided to go with Froakie, the water frog. He looks pretty cool.

Froakie, Fennekin and Chespin

Well leaked images of the starters’ middle forms have hit the web, and clearly Froakie is still the favorite. I don’t know what the heck happened to Chespin.

I assume all of that Japanese is laughing at Chespin

Froakie becomes Gekogashira, Chespin becomes Hariboogu, and Fennekin evolves into Teerunaa.

So whereas Froakie evolves into an even more ninja gecko, Chespin evolves into a booger. It’s right there in the name!

The final evolutions have yet to be revealed! So stay tuned to my random pokemon coverage!

Pokemon Fusions Are a Thing, and They Are Amazing

I don’t know if you’ve noticed yet or not, but there’s a meme that’s been going around for awhile now called Pokemon Fusions. It’s this blog – Click Here – that randomly fuses two pokemon together to create a nifty, silly new gene-spliced pokemon. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t. Here, I made an example:

I know you’re reading his name in Pikachu’s voice

Neat, right? Go ahead and try it out. It’s a ton of fun.

But I’m actually here to tell you that the Internet has taken Pokemon Fusions and done them one better. A bunch of professional artists, or at least people who can really draw well, have taken these Pokemon Fusions drawn them to look real, instead of looking like awkward cut and pastes. The results are both beautiful and horrifying, but all together brilliant. If you want to see an example of the Internet at its geeky finest and most creative, click the jump to see all the freaky and awesome Fusions!

6 Random Things to Make Into New Pokemon

As of this writing, there are 649 pokemon. That means several artists and game designers sat down and thought up 649 individual little critters to put into all the Pokemon games, having to make them all unique and interesting in their own right. And with the new Pokemon X and Pokemon Y coming out this Fall, that means there are another 100+ pokemon still to be announced to fill those games. How do they do it? How do they design so many different pokemon?

The answer is easy: they cheat!

If you look over your standard Pokedex, you’ll see that Pokemon games are filled with normal animals that have been given a weird, cartoony twist. There are cows, snakes, giraffes, turtles, pigs, bats, monkeys, scorpions, camels and more. And the designers didn’t stop at animals. There are also a lot of inanimate object pokemon. There are gears, magnets, ice cream cones, balloons and chandeliers. There is even a pokemon that is just a giant, sentient, bag of garbage!

And you better believe I used him in my party!

So for the new games, I’ve decided to help Nintendo out in the creative department. I’ve looked over all 649 pokemon and have found some holes that need to be filled. Here are my six suggestions for what they can use to make the next pokemon!
