Behold, the Wolverine Video Game!
Yesterday, we got the biggest look to date of the upcoming Wolverine video game — for which I’ve secured an entire week off from work to play. Can’t wait! It was a Playstation State of Play exhibit and we got a long gameplay video/trailer. See for yourself.
I think it looks great! I think it looks very on-rails, but it’s going to be that type of video game. This isn’t an open sandbox game, like Crimson Desert. This seems more like The Last of Us with Wolverine. And I’m fine with that. A game is gonna be what it is. I like the level of violence. I like the visible healing, even if it means his suit ‘heals’ as well. That’s just something we need to set aside in our minds. I like the use of cameos. Saw Leech and a bunch of others. It all looks great to me!
Apparently in this new continuity, the X-Men don’t exist and instead we’ve got Team X, which includes Wolverine and Jean Grey. Interesting. I’m more than willing to see where they go with that story idea. I am totally fine with Insomniac creating their own universe continuity. It means familiar faces can show up in weird places! Of course, that might also again mean that my favorite mutant — Multiple Man — might end up being henchmen fodder…but I can probably live with that if it means Multiple Man gets to even appear.
Game looks good to me! Can’t wait to play! Wolverine comes to Playstation on Sept. 15.

How About a Ghost of Yōtei Story Trailer?
Ghost of Yōtei is a sequel to Ghost of Tsushima, an excellent game, and it’s coming out later this year. I’m excited. You should be excited. Should be a great game! And it’s a random Monday at the end of April, so how about a new trailer that shows off a bit of the story? Seems like a good use of all of our time.
Looks good to me. I don’t even need to see anything else about this game. I’m getting it. Maybe Day One, maybe not. Depends on when Grand Theft Auto VI comes out. Everything depends on when GTA6 comes out. But Ghost of Yōtei comes out on Oct. 2. So we’ll see! Though how I’ll be able to go from this to getting Assassin’s Creed: Shadows on sale next year should be tough.
Speaking of games, I’ve just bought and downloaded Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 this morning. I’ve finished Kingdom Come: Deliverance II and didn’t know what to move on to next, and then the internet started gushing about this Expedition 33 game. I know very little about it, haven’t seen a trailer, so I’m mostly going in blind. I’ll let you know how it goes at the end of the week.

Ghosts of Yōtei Looks Friggin’ Sweet
Playstation held one of their State of Plays yesterday to reveal a suite of upcoming games. I wasn’t too interested in most of them, but we got our first look at the upcoming sequel to the truly amazing Ghosts of Tsushima. It’s going to be Ghosts of Yōtei, a new story with a new protagonist with the same beauty and power.
Looks awesome! I loved Ghosts of Tsushima, like everybody else, and this sequel looks awesome. I love the idea of moving ahead in time to a new character and story. That works perfectly fine for me. The new protagonist is named Atsu and she’s got a sweet guitar on her back; I wonder what that’s about. Atsu is going to be voiced by Erika Ishii, of whom I’m a huge fan thanks to her work on Dropout! So awesome!
Ghosts of Yōtei is going to come out next year, which means 2025 is going to be an insanely huge year for video games! I spent 2024 trying not to spend too much money on new games, and have mostly succeeded. But it seems I’m going to be shelling out so much money next year for new games!

6 Costumes I Want in the New Spider-Man Games
I am currently swinging my way through the new Spider-Man 2 video game on Playstation 5, having a grand old time fighting bad guys, thwipping webs and fighting Venoms. When I beat the game, I’ll do a round-up List of Six (maybe next week?), but today I wanted to touch upon a specific aspect of the game series: the costumes! I love alternate costumes, even if I don’t use them very often, and even after three games in this series, there are more I want to see.
I’m a sucker for maintaining story accurate costumes in these games. No matter how well these alternate costumes are incorporated into the animation and gameplay, I’m still usually wearing Peter or Miles’s game canon costume for the story missions. I can’t help myself. But I’ve loved having the alternate costume option since all the way back to the Spider-Man Playstation 1 games. Spidey has so many costumes, it’s a hoot to have them available. And I definitely indulge when it comes to side quests or mini-games, or just swinging around the city in new duds.
So when we get some DLC or even Spider-Man 3 or Spider-Man: Miles Morales 2, these are the costumes I still want to see in this game series.

The day is finally here! After waiting many years, after waiting all day this week, after waiting the hours of my work day, it’s finally time to play and enjoy Spider-Man 2! Granted, I’m posting this in the morning and won’t be able to play until I get out of work later…but still, let’s be happy!
Here’s the launch trailer. Looks great.
This game is gonna be a blast! The last game, and the Miles Morales spin-off, were amazing. And I’ve got a 3-day weekend ahead of me, so I plan to play all weekend long. Gonna swing and web to my heart’s content! I hope everyone else is having just as much fun.
