They Released a Full Inside Out 2 Trailer While I Wasn’t Looking
Once upon a time, Pixar movies were really, really great. They’re mostly mediocre these days. I don’t remember being particularly impressed with the first Inside Out. I think it was fine? It’s definitely very popular in the public’s mind. So a sequel was a good idea!
Looks good to me! Even if the idea that there are additional emotions was pre-negated by the fact that we saw adult minds in the first film, and none of them had the additional emotions. How you gonna answer that, movie? Huh?!
Ugh, I’m sick this week and my blog banter is trash. Hope you enjoyed the trailer. Inside Out 2 comes to theaters on June 14.

Movie Trailer Monday
We’re back at the start of a new week, to share a couple of movie trailers I missed sharing this past week. There were probably more than these two, but these are apparently the two I bookmarked to share. I’m fun like that.
First up is a trailer for the new, animated Garfield cartoon, where Garfield is voiced by Chris Pratt. Man, everything about this trailer is soul crushing.
What are we doing as a society anymore? I guess we can all be happy for Chris Pratt that he’s still getting work. That’s a good thing, right? Do we still like Chris Pratt? He wasn’t that great as Mario…and, frankly, he doesn’t seem to be trying too hard as Garfield. I’m no Garfield apologist, but…eh?
The Garfield cartoon comes to theaters on May 24.
Next up is Inside Out 2, a sequel to a Pixar movie that didn’t require a sequel. But the world is as the world is.
I like the general idea. A bunch of new emotions that come with puberty? Sure! Granted, we didn’t see any of these other emotions when we peered into the heads of adults in the first film, but why let a little thing like continuity get in the way of a Pixar sequel? Gotta right this ship somehow.
Inside Out 2 comes to theaters in June.

I Like the Look of Elio
I went and saw Elemental this weekend and I liked it. The film is cute and it won me over in the end. I don’t think it’s a great film or anything that’s going to fix Pixar’s recent losing streak, but it was a fine watch. It was also as predictable as I feared it would be based on the trailers, and a lot of the logistics of its world really annoyed me.
Why do you have chain link fences? Because the animators put them in the movie, that’s why. Jeez.
Anyway, Pixar’s next film is Elio, which is a bad title for what looks like a fun film.
I think this looks neat. It’s not as predictable, I don’t think. Lotta weird and funny stuff could happen out in space to this kid. That “Uh, Earth” joke is stale as hell and has been done a bajillion times, but that’s fine. Surely that’s not going to be indicative of a bad script overall. This looks cute.
Also, what’s up with Pixar/Disney animated films and these one-word titles? There are so many interesting titles that could come from this wild, sci-fi alien premise, but they just go with the kid’s name? Heck, “Uh, Earth” would have been a better title.
Anyway, we can expect Elio in March, 2024.

Pixar’s Elemental Looks Pretty Bland
The next Pixar film is called Elemental, and we got the first full trailer today. It clearly looks like a movie where someone said “what if elements had feelings”. And then they whipped together a pretty bland and basic script about love interests from different families getting together, despite being told that their kinds don’t mix.
Elemental looks really, really bland. The two main characters look bland. Their families look bland. Their conflict looks bland. Their world looks bland. Why make a joke about chain link fences not mattering to elements? Why not make a world so amazing that it doesn’t need chain link fences? Why not do something that actually involves elements instead of just using them as unnecessary metaphors?
I dunno. I’m not a Pixar filmmaker. But Elemental is what they’re sending to theaters on June 16.

What If Elements Had Feelings?
Pixar is going to keep making movies, and we’re going to hope they’re good. The next one is called Elemental, and it’s apparently going to be about a hot fire elemental lady and a sexy water elemental dude falling in love. Can fire love water? I guess we’ll find out in Elemental!
I kid, because it’s funny. Isn’t that how the gags work with these types of movies? What if cars had feelings? What if toys had feelings? What if a little robot had feelings? Well now we’ve got anthropomorphized elements! Fire, water, dirt; all the elements. I bet they have really powerful feelings!
Elemental comes out in June.
