Because Any New Hobbit Thing is a Good Thing
It’s been a slow geek news week, so anything as awesome as the first TV commercial for The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey is worth posting.
This movie just looks fancier and fancier with each new trailer and commercial. It’s going to be a good one, I can tell! Now we just have to hope that the world doesn’t come to an end before the movie is released in December. The cosmos couldn’t be that cruel…could they?
In the Mines of ‘Give Me Moria’ of This!
Behold, LEGO Lord of the Rings brilliance!
How is it that we live in a world were LEGO humor is relegated to fan-made videos on Youtube? Where is the TV executive who isn’t greenlighting a full stop motion animation LEGO cartoon for Saturday mornings? Somebody find that person for me and introduce them to the Brotherhood Workshop. These guys are geniuses!
6 Fan-Made Characters That Were Embraced by the Real Creators
Do you remember Gary the Gray Power Ranger, the one who drove Titanus? Or what about Dustin the Animorph-Controller, who was both one of the good guys and one of the bad guys? Or Jedi Padawan Tasher Jaken? No? You don’t? Well don’t worry, you shouldn’t remember them. They never existed, not in the real shows, books or movies anyway. They are all my own fan fiction creations. All 100% my own ideas.
Creating my own original characters to fit into existing franchises has always been one of my favorite writing hobbies. I was even naive enough once upon a time to think I had a chance of making them a reality, if only I could speak with the writers or creators.
Now I know better. I was fooling myself.
Yet even though it never worked out for me, the dream isn’t so far-fetched. Sometimes the creators and professionals really do listen to their fans. Sometimes that silly bit of fan fiction can take on a life of its own. Or maybe the fans will embrace a seemingly unimportant background character and adopt him or her like a mascot. It can happen. It has happened. I found six characters from TV, video games and movies that were – for the most part – created and embellished by the fans, only for the real creators to take notice and embrace these fan creations, bringing them into the real canon.
The Hobbit Will Be the Most Adorable Film This Year
Remember the new Hobbit trailer released on Wednesday, and how it was simply fantastic? Well apparently there were several alternate endings to the trailer, meaning several different trailers hit the Internets. I only saw the one, and shared the one, so clearly we were all missing out. Now it seems some noble soul has made a montage of the different endings, basically resulting in simply clips from The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey. And these scenes are absolutely adorable! This movie looks better and better!
Bilbo Baggins is Going on an Adventure!
The new trailer for The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey hit the Internets today, and boy howdy is it great!
Back when I was talking about Lincoln, I clearly forgot that this movie was coming out in December. The first Hobbit film still looks amazing, and this new trailer makes it even more so! I’ve never read the books, so I don’t know what the story is about in advance, but what little tidbits we get here are kind of exciting. And the actor playing Bilbo, Martin Freeman, seems so adorably nerdy.
