Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 2/3/24
We’re in February, everybody! And that’s a big month for me! If you haven’t seen the news yet, my own self-published comic, Gamer Girl & Vixen, is returning to Kickstarter for our sequel graphic novel! So go sign up for the Feb. 12 launch! And then read my reviews this week for comics like Avengers Twilight and Duke!
Comic Book of the Week goes to Power Rangers Unlimited for a nicely personal spin-off story starring the Rangers Slayer.
Meanwhile, I’m slowly working my way through Super Mario Bros. Wonder. I splurged on that game before Christmas, and who doesn’t love a good, classic Mario game? And I’m watching some AppleTV+ again. Hijack starring Idris Elba is a real delight so far!
Comic Reviews: Avengers: Twilight: Book Two, Duke #2 and Power Rangers Unlimited: The Morphin Masters.

What a great week in comics! If you didn’t see already, I’m ramping up my own self-published comic output this year with some Gamer Girl & Vixen web comics. Check them out! And more announcements coming soon! Meanwhile, we’ve got some solid regular comics too, like Superman and the first issue of Cobra Commander!
Comic Book of the Week goes to Wonder Woman #5, because even the place-setting issues of this series are great! It’s nice to see that Yara Flor is still around.
Meanwhile, I’ve settled into some nice, comfortable monotony with Project Zomboid, even though I’ve been reading to hang it up for a while now. It keeps me entertained, and that’s what matters. I just like pedantry in my games. I spent a whole afternoon in this zombie game just mowing the overgrown lawn of my safehouse.
Comic Reviews: Avengers: Twilight: Book One, Cobra Commander #1, Superman #10 and Wonder Woman #5.

Another week, more comics, the world keeps spinning around and around. Some pretty good and enjoyable comics this week, like Transformers and the first issue of the hotly anticipated Ultimate Spider-Man #1.
Comic Book of the Week is Sensational She-Hulk for an excellent issue of superheroes being normal people, which I love.
Meanwhile, I watched Echo this past week and I enjoyed it. Definitely nothing special or outstanding, but it’s a solid corner of the MCU that could be further explored in the future. I wouldn’t mind seeing her interact with other heroes and actually play a role. Beyond that, my interest in Project Zomboid is definitely beginning to wane after a few unfortunate deaths. I just wanna play the game and not have to keep restarting! Stupid zombies.
Comic Reviews: Sensational She-Hulk #4, Transformers #4 and Ultimate Spider-Man #1.

Only a few more weeks until Christmas! That doesn’t particularly mean much in the grand scheme of things, but it definitely works to open up this comic review article. We’ve also got new issues of the likes of Batman and Transformers to enjoy.
Comic Book of the Week goes to Birds of Prey #4 for an action and character-focused issue that really kicks things up a notch.
Meanwhile, I’m almost done with Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, but mostly that game was all about building my own lightsaber. I think I should share my endgame creation! I’m also finally working my way through the fourth season of Harley Quinn. It’s not as strong a show as it was at the beginning, but it’s still enjoyable.
Comic Reviews: Batman #140, Birds of Prey #4, Fantastic Four #14, Thunderbolts #1, Transformers #3 and X-Men #29.

I’m in a very easy going mood this week when it comes to comics. Had a lot of really enjoyable readsthis week. Nothing really blew my mind, but they were fun reads nonetheless, like new issues of Batman and G.O.D.S.
Comic Book of the Week goes to Transformers #2 because it was a solid issue, though I think all of the comics I read this week were equally good reads. It was a bit of a coin flip this week.
Meanwhile, I beat Spider-Man 2 and very much enjoyed the game. The only real detraction I have is that it felt short and light. I probably could have beat it much faster than I did. I think these games should come out more frequently, just by reusing the map and character elements already created. Beyond that, I saw The Marvels opening night and very much enjoyed the film. To hell with the haters! Come back on Wednesday for my thoughts and full review on The Marvels.
Comic Reviews: Batman #139, Birds of Prey #3, G.O.D.S. #2 and Transformers #2.
