Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 10/8/22
What a week! What a week! Daredevil shows up in She-Hulk: Attorney at Law! Werewolf By Night debuts for the MCU! New Black Panther: Wakanda Forever trailer! Life is good for us comic book geeks! Made even better by some excellent comics, like Ant-Man and Captain America: Sentinel of Liberty.
Comic Book of the Week goes to Batman #128 because I am a sucker for good Batman and Robin writing, and a sucker for amazing, action-packed comics!
Meanwhile, that Daredevil episode was definitely the best episode of She-Hulk yet! And we’ve seen so little from the finale that I have no idea what’s coming next! Should be great! The whole show has been perfect! And I started playing TemTem because I needed something to play, and it’s pretty fun, if low key, so far. I’m also on the hunt for a Playstation 5 ahead of some upcoming games. Wish me luck!
Comic Reviews: Ant-Man #4, Batman #128, Captain America: Sentinel of Liberty #5.

What a gorram week. It was my birthday this past Tuesday, and what did I get? A real nasty cold! The worst cold I’ve had in years. Was it COVID? I don’t know, because I don’t have any at-home tests lying around, and I barely left my apartment. Just went out to get stronger meds and didn’t find any tests at the drug store. Ugh.
Comic Book of the Week goes to Captain America: Sentinel of Liberty #4 for a truly exceptional issue that works on multiple levels, while keeping the focus squarely on Steve Rogers the man.
Meanwhile, ugh, this cold really sucked! I didn’t do much else. I watched Paper Girls on Amazon Prime and that was a let down. It was like an early 2000s Nickelodeon attempt to do Paper Girls, with no real budget. The Sandman was great on Netflix. And Total War: Warhammer 3 is living up to the years of hype. So other than the cold, I’m good.
Comic Reviews: Batman #127, Captain America: Sentinel of Liberty #4 and She-Hulk #6.

Woof. What a lazy week. Normally I like to share funny videos or movie trailers, but I couldn’t find much of anything this week. Oh well, at least we had some nice comics, like Amazing Spider-Man and Power Rangers.
Comic Book of the Week goes to the latest issue of Captain America: Sentinel of Liberty for continuing this strong series — even if it’s all built on one of those retcons where some secret society is behind everything.
Meanwhile, I recently read through all the tpbs of Batman meets the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and they were a lot of fun! That was a quality series, and I’m sorry I missed it when it first came out. Perhaps now I’ll check out the animated version. I also think I’m finally going to play the video game Stray this weekend. The time has come.
Comic Reviews: Amazing Spider-Man #7, Captain America: Sentinel of Liberty #3, Jurassic League #4 and Power Rangers #22.

Marvel Studios returned to San Diego Comic Con for the first time in years last night, and they brought the power. They outline the ending of Phase 4 and all of Phase 5, with a hint at Phase 6 even, stretching out into 2025. It all looks pretty great to me!
Specifically, we got some great trailers. Like this first look at the next movie, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.
That is a damn powerful trailer. I am perfectly fine with the idea of not casting the late Chadwick Boseman as T’Challa. It would have been very simple to just recast him and tell another story where Black Panther fights a new bad guy. But it’s a real creative challenge for everybody else to come together and come up with a great new story that pays respect to his death and legacy. I’m excited!
We also got a new trailer for She-Hulk: Attorney at Law. I’m excited for this show, and this trailer looks good.
Some of the CGI looks wonky still, and some looks better. The whole thing overall looks like a great watch. She-Hulk is a fun character, and I really want a procedural law show starring She-Hulk and a bunch of comic book stuff. Should be fun!
Those were the only trailers we got, though the people at Comic Con got some exclusive footage from a bunch of other projects. Good for them.
We got a few new projects revealed last night, all of which sound great.
Out of those, I’m definitely looking forward to what they end up doing with Thunderbolts. And new Avengers movies sound great to me! We have three whole years for them to put together a new Avengers team to star in Kang Dynasty and Secret Wars. And new Daredevil and Captain America stuff should be a hoot!
Marvel Studios had a great night at Comic-Con and I’m looking forward to all of these things! Gonna be a fun three years, as always.

Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 7/9/22
For reasons I will never understand, this week featured a deluge of comics for me! I don’t read everything; I pretty much read and review what I want. And a ton of the ongoing series I read came out this week, like Amazing Spider-Man, Mighty Morphin, Saga and more!
Comic Book of the Week goes to Batman #125 for a truly excellent start to Chip Zdarsky’s much anticipated Batman run! Though I do have a bone to pick with him…
Meanwhile, I saw Thor: Love and Thunder and really enjoyed it! Not as good as Ragnarok, but I had a good enough time. Beyond that, I’ve been watching Mythic Quest on AppleTV+ and it’s as good as everybody says! That’s fun. And I splurged on the Mass Effect: Legendary Edition during the Steam Summer Sale, so I’ve been enjoying a return to that franchise. I never played Mass Effect 3, so it’ll be fun when I finally get there.
Comic Reviews: Amazing Spider-Man #5, Batman #125, Captain America: Sentinel of Liberty #2, Legion of X #3, Mighty Morphin #21, Poison Ivy #2, Saga #60, Strange Academy #18 and The X-Cellent #5.
