Everything Wrong With Gravity – According to Neil deGrasse Tyson

The fine folks at Cinema Sins have gone above and beyond with their next EWW feature – they recruited the great Dr. Neil deGrasse Tyson to add some sins! Though for some reason, he only quotes his Tweets…

So was he not actually in the studio? Did he just read his previous Tweets about the movie over the phone? Still, such a fun gimmick for the latest episode!

6 Thoughts on the Second Season of Arrow

There are almost too many geeky shows on TV these days! It’s like a dream come true. And they’re all mostly good, and few are better than Arrow, which is probably my favorite drama on TV these days. Anybody who complains that it’s just Batman Lite, or too focused on CW-style drama, can just go be haters off in their own little corner. I’ll enjoy my live action Green Arrow TV show. Arrow is an exciting, action-packed superhero drama, which ratcheted up the acting, storytelling and, above all, tension, to make their second season into some truly great TV!

With a liberal use of beefcake

I was lukewarm about season one. I enjoyed it, sure, but it wasn’t the greatest show by any means. But then the team behind Arrow blew me away with the first season finale, and I was definitely coming back for more with season two. Imagine my delight when season two turned out to be amazing! Ollie the superhero, Black Canary, the League of Assassins, the Suicide Squad, the Flash, freakin’ Deathstroke the Terminator! It was all so good!

Join me after the jump for my thoughts/review of Arrow season 2! Be warned, there will be FULL SPOILERS for the whole season.

Fantastic Foul: Why I Believe the F4 Comic Controversy

If you haven’t heard, the latest rumor circulating the comic book blogosphere is that Marvel plans to put their Fantastic Four comics on hiatus while FOX Studios limps into making their new Fantastic Four reboot. The idea is that Marvel and Disney executives don’t want to give the rival studio any help whatsoever in building a new franchise off of one of Marvel’s properties. The website Bleeding Cool kicked off the rumor mill last week, claiming inside sources at Marvel gave them the tip, and citing evidence from sketch card artists who had been told to steer clear of any F4 related characters.

Marvel Big Wig Editor Tom Brevoort has so far been the only Marvel guy to respond to the controversy, giving it a firm denial.

But here’s the thing: I totally believe Bleeding Cool’s story. I don’t have any special insight, I don’t know any more than anybody else about this whole shebang, I just really think it’s possible that some Marvel/Disney executive might be petty enough to cut off the company’s nose to spite its face.

Executives are the true super-villains

I know I’m just another Internet idiot with a blog, and you’ve got no reason to believe anything I say. But this is turning out to be a pretty big deal, and I figured I had some time to spare to write up my own thoughts. A lot of people seem to be siding against Bleeding Cool and their scoop, and that’s fine. Everybody’s free to their opinion.

But I think Bleeding Cool might be on to something here.

Join me after the jump to find out why. And please feel free to share your own thoughts in the comments!

Hercules: The New Legendary Journeys

So the Rock’s big Hercules movie is due out any week now, and as these things go, they’ve put out another trailer. And it’s…hard to say. I think this trailer puts the final nails in the coffin.

Don’t get me wrong, maybe the movie will be great. The Rock is a pretty awesome guy, and this seems to be a real passion project for him. So maybe there’s hope. But watching that trailer…ugh. It just looks like a big, dumb, action-overloaded historical epic, and I just don’t think the movie-going public cares about that sort of thing. Have they ever?

I Hear They’re Going to Make Another Mortal Kombat Game

New Flash: There are probably going to be new Mario games in the future too. The new one – Mortal Kombat X – was announced today with a fancy pants teaser trailer.

Everybody expects to get more information at this year’s E3 conference, so we’ll wait until then. For now, I will giggle to myself at how proud someone must have been to come up with that title. But then I’ll be disappointed that it’s not a crossover game with the X-Men, because we don’t yet live in a world where that can come true.

Personally, I still don’t own a next gen console, so this game is probably going to be out of my reach. But that’s not going to stop me from hoping Smoke is a playable character.
