It Seems I Missed Some Awesome Bebop and Rocksteady News!

I’ve already said it a few times on this blog recently, but I have developed a new respect for Bebop and Rocksteady in my growing years. I don’t think I much cared for them in the 80s, when they were bumbling henchmen to the Shredder in the old Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles cartoon. But as I grow older, I find myself liking them and their potential more and more.

Which is why I’m so ashamed that I missed this awesome Bebop and Rocksteady news from earlier this year!

They’ll probably moider me now!

Fortunately, there’s been a new bump in content, so I can safely announce it today without too much Internet scorn.

Is anybody else watching the new Ninja Turtles cartoon on Nickelodeon? It’s actually a very good show. The animation is top notch, the mythology is expertly crafted; it really is a love letter to all things awesome about the Ninja Turtles. I have nothing but good things to say about the cartoon – except that their villains are terrible. All of them. Across the board. For the most part.

Fortunately, that’s about to change!

In the interest of SPOILERS, I’m going to wait until after the jump to reveal the awesome news!

The Rock to Bring Black Adam to the Screen

After weeks of teasing on social media, Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson revealed to the world today that he would be playing Black Adam in the upcoming Shazam movie! And much like he did with the death of Osama bin Laden, The Rock announced the casting on Twitter.

Bin Laden didn’t stand a chance

No word yet on when the movie will actually reach the silver screen. And quite frankly, does anybody else remember how the Rock was rumored to play Black Adam several years ago? I can’t just be imagining that.

I guess with the new, enhanced superhero movie schedule, DC and Warner Bros finally had Rock sign on the dotted line.

And honestly, the Rock is the perfect choice to play Black Adam! Not to mention the fact that DC’s growing movieverse could use his charm and personality.

For those who don’t know, Black Adam is the arch-nemesis of the superhero Shazam. I don’t know how well known Shazam is to the rest of the world. Shazam is really 10-year-old Billy Batson, granted the power of the gods from an ancient mystic. Whenever Billy shouts the magic word – “Shazam!” – a magic lightning bolt turns him into the Big Red Cheese.

It makes sense in context

Shazam has been around for decades, and was once known as Captain Marvel. He’s basically a Superman rip-off who got pretty popular in his own right.

Black Adam is one of his many colorful enemies. Black Adam gets his own powers from the same ancient mystic, so he and Shazam are kind of two sides of the same coin.

And, again, the Rock is perfect for the role – should the movie ever actually get made.

Despite the Mockery, I Stand By My Enjoyment of The Amazing Spider-Man 2

Earlier this summer, I rated The Amazing Spider-Man 2 an 8 out of 10, or ‘very good’. I stand by that rating. I enjoyed the movie, I enjoyed the performances and the villains, and I had a good time.

But that doesn’t spare the film from getting torn apart by Internet mockers! Because yeah, there were a lot of dumb moments in that movie. So as is the case with the Internet, here are the Honest Trailer and the Everything Wrong With…for The Amazing Spider-Man 2.

Did you see what they did there? Those nerds are getting creative with their Internet mockery. I like it. Though this might mean that the Internet is becoming self aware…

6 Things I Want For My Birthday

Happy Birthday to me! That’s right, even we bloggers have birthdays, and mine is this weekend! I even have it off from work. How cool is that? Not that I plan on throwing a big party or anything. Maybe a movie with some friends, and a big, succulent, decadent chocolate cake. That’s good eats.

Resistance is futile!

In an effort to make me feel old, I’m going to willingly reveal to you fine readers that I’ll be turning 31. Some will say that 31 is a scary age…and they’re absolutely right! Jeez! I’m 31?! How did that happen?!

Ahem. Sorry about that. At least they say you’re only as old as you feel, and I don’t feel 31. I feel young enough to actually make a list of presents I want on my birthday! Join me after the jump for possibly my most selfish List of Six ever!

The Incredibles, But Even More Awesomer

The Incredibles done in the style of Christopher Nolan/The Dark Knight. I would say it was a definitely well-put-together bit of Internetery. Kudos to Bobby Burns, the man with the plan to mess with Disney movies.
