So Chris Pratt is Definitely Leading an Army of Raptors

My favorite Super Bowl commercial this year was the new trailer for Jurassic World, which confirms that Chris Pratt will indeed be some kind of Raptor King.

This trailer is a fair bit cooler than the first trailer. Solid Super Bowl advertisement. But where was the Super Bowl ad for Ant-Man?!

Pokemon Awesomeness!

I mostly congratulate the Internet for its silly stuff, but today we celebrate artists! So many people can come together and collaborate on something as cool as this redone opening theme. Plus the Pokemon opening theme is legendary, now even moreso! You can get more information on this nifty project on their Tumblr.

Game of Thrones is Still Happening

As evidenced by this awesome new trailer for Season 5!

Looks pretty neat to me! Cool stuff happening for Tyrion, which I’m sure we all like. I’m glad Varys is still alive, I like that guy, and Varys and Tyrion make an awesome team. Plus those dragons are still around. Yeah, this looks like it’ll be a pretty cool season. Probably debuts in April, I think it said. I hope I’m still around by then!

Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 1/31/15

Nobody panic. Deep breaths. Calm yourselves. I’m just as shocked as you are. Batman Eternal has just released the single best issue of it’s entire 40+ issue run so far. It came out this week and it is very, very entertaining. It helps that Batman Eternal #43 forgoes any focus on the ongoing story and instead delivers an issue where Stephanie Brown and Harper Row hang out and talk about the coolness of Catwoman, but still, it’s progress.

I can’t believe I’m going to say this…but Batman Eternal #43 wins Comic Book of the Week. Wow. That took a lot of effort. There are a ton of very good comics this week, plenty of enjoyable reads. But when I really thought about it, I had to give it to Batman Eternal, because this team-up is a revelation.

I think I’m going to use this panel every time I write a Batman article

Spoiler and Bluebird need to get their own comic after this. They need to go on to team up all the time, the new crime-fighting buddies of the Bat-family. These two need to be the new foundation for the Birds of Prey. Throw in Red Robin for some love triangling and you’ve got the sort of comic that could really matter to people.

I can’t tell if this is a good day or a bad day for comics. Batman Eternal…winning Comic Book of the Week…man. I just don’t know anymore. I can’t even.

While we’re adjusting, feel free to check out my review of Uncanny Avengers #1 over at Word of the Nerd. It was a relatively mediocre start.

Comic Reviews: Batman Eternal #43, Bitch Planet #2, Gotham Academy #4, Harley Quinn #14, Thor #4 and Uncanny X-Men #30.

Hellcat is Joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe!

There’s some new exciting casting news out of the upcoming Netflix Defenders shows: Rachel Taylor has been cast as Patsy Walker in the Jessica Jones show, and Patsy Walker is the superhero known as Hellcat! That’s just purrfect! I mean…wait…no, I can do better than that. Casting Rachel Taylor is…the cat’s meow? Oh jeez, I think I’ve bottomed out…

How is it possible that I’m out of good cat puns this early into my career?!

Patsy Walker is going to be a syndicated talk radio host and Jessica Jones’ best friend, so that’s pretty neat. You may remember Taylor from Grey’s Anatomy or, as I know her, the Aussie hacker from the first Transformers movie. Whatever happened to her character? Am I the only human being on the planet who wants to know what happened to all the various human Transformers movie characters who simply disappeared between films?

Regardless, I’m sure Taylor will be awesome on the show. And casting Hellcat (though there’s no promise that she’ll become Hellcat) opens up a world of possibilities. Just imagine what minor Marvel characters could pop up on these shows and maybe join the eventual Defenders.

I think I smell a new listicle coming…
