There’s Just Something Slightly Off About Pan
A new trailer for the upcoming Peter Pan movie has hit the web, and while it looks like a riotous good time, there’s just something about about the movie Pan.
There’s the white-washing, for one. There’s all this talk of the ‘natives’, but their representative is the lilywhite new Tiger Lily. Then there’s the abominable fact that Hugh Jackman is playing Blackbeard the pirate, and that Captain Hook is Peter Pan’s best pal/partner/sidekick. Who thought that was a good idea?
Still, weirdness aside, the CGI action effects look pretty cool. Pan might be this generation’s Hook, and I love me some Hook!

6 Musings on Robin in the DC Cinematic Universe
The second full trailer for Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice was released at Comic-Con this past weekend, and my worst fears were realized: Robin is dead. We don’t know how and we don’t know who, but the sight of Robin’s costume covered in graffiti from the Joker confirms the rumors that the Boy Wonder is dead, buried and mourned in the DC Cinematic Universe.
Can we not have nice things?
But I’m not giving up hope, at least not completely. I love Robin too much to give in to sadness and grief. There are going to be a lot of movies in the future. There’s going to be a solo Batman movie directed by Ben Affleck in a few years. There will be sequels and spin-offs, and who knows what else.
So with my Blue Lantern ring clutched firmly in hand, I thought I’d ponder a little about what I’d like for Robin in the DC Cinematic Universe.
First Suicide Squad Trailer Looks to Impress
After it leaked on a crappy cell phone recording after Comic-Con, the folks at DC and Warner Bros. have just decided to go ahead and release the full Suicide Squad trailer online!
I like it, it’s pretty cool. Lot of action, the characters look neat, and it seems generally good. I liked Harley and Will Smith. Not sure how I feel about the Joker yet. Those fake teeth make him sound ridiculous, and not in a good Joker way. It sounds like he has some fake teeth in his mouth. But overall, I think I’m OK with it. And it was a smart decision to just release the trailer to the larger public. You’ve got the darn thing, why sit on it when crappy cell phone versions are flitting around the web?
Though this might convince companies not to screen trailers at Comic-Con anymore…

Bruce Campbell Remains Amazing
I will go to my grave believing that Bruce Campbell’s greatest role was as Sam Axe on the TV show Burn Notice. But there’s a new Evil Dead TV show coming, and it looks pretty amazing.
Go Bruce Campbell! Ash vs. Evil Dead is going to be on Starz.
I think that’s it for my Comic-Con coverage. This was a pretty awesome convention! We’ve got new Robin comics coming up, we got confirmation of Robin’s role in the DC Cinematic Universe, there was some other, non-Robin news. Good weekend!

A New Costume for Green Arrow and Other Fun Stuff
Both Arrow and The Flash are coming back to TV in the fall, and Comic-Con had a ton of news for both of them. First up, not only is the Arrow getting a tougher new costume, but rumor has it that he’s finally going to change his name to ‘Green Arrow’ in season 4. I like the new look.
There’s also word that both Anarky and Mr. Terrific will appear in Season 4, so it looks like more and more comic book characters are going to join this universe. They’re also going to go ahead and change the name Starling City to Star City, like it was originally in Green Arrow comics.
To say nothing of The Flash! Because not only are they going to get Jay Garrick and Earth 2, but Zoom is going to be the big bad and Wally West is finally going to show up. That’s neat. They’re also going to further explore Cisco’s transformation into Vibe.
Meanwhile, in Legends of Tomorrow, we’ve got confirmation that Hawkman is going to show up! That’s pretty cool.
And the first trailer for the Vixen cartoon has been released.
So yeah, good things coming from DC in the near future. I think they clearly won Comic-Con this year.
