Thor: Ragnarok Puts Its Foot Down!

The first details of Thor 3: Ragnarok were unveiled today, with Marvel dropping both a cast list and this sweet concept art. The new cast members and characters sound very, very promising.

Lookin’ pretty badass

We’ve got Cate Blanchett playing Hela, the Norse goddess of the Underworld. Jeff Goldblum, of all people, is joining as the Grandmaster, which is a very interesting choice. He’s like The Collector from Guardians of the Galaxy, one of those oddball cosmic Marvel characters. Not sure what this means for the MCU.

Tessa Thompson will be the superhero Valkyrie, which is awesome. And the biggest news is that Karl Urban will be Skurge the Executioner! Hells yes! Now that is some casting and character I can get behind!

Good things happen when you’ve got Skurge and Hela in a Thor story together. Gjallerbru is the #1 thing I’ve wanted to see in the solo Avengers sequels since at least 2012! Surely Marvel’s going to make it happen. How could they not?

I’m still not sold on the Hulk being in this movie, but whatevs. I have nothing but absolute faith in the Marvel Movie Machine, and Thor: Ragnarok already sounds promising. It’s going to hit theaters on Nov. 3, 2017.

First Trailer for DC Superhero Comedy ‘Powerless’ is Humorless

Ouch. This…this might be everything we ever feared. The jokes are hackneyed, the references are painfully forced; this might be the return of camp to superhero entertainment.

Powerless is a show about regular, blue collar people living and working in the world of DC superheroes. And wow, it just looks terrible. Maybe it’s my own disinterest in standard network television these days, but come on! Jokes about utility belts where the entire joke is just saying the phrase? And the superhero references couldn’t be more forced. Jeez.

At least Kate Micucci’s in it. I like her.

New Ghostbusters Trailer Still Looks Good

We’ve got a new trailer for the new Ghostbusters movie, and it still looks fine to me! I am definitely not one of those people complaining that they’re all women. To hell with that noise! This movie could be good, it could be bad, but I’m gonna see it in theaters anyway!

The trailers are definitely funny, too.

The 6 Best Bear Superheroes

Bears. They’re big, they’re scary, they can kill a human being with one swipe of their massive bear paws! Sometimes they like stealing pic’a’nic baskets. And sometimes, superheroes and villains like to dress up as bears.

Smarter than the average superhero

There are a lot of animal-themed comic book characters out there in the world. I’ve written about cats, rabbits, birds and bugs, so now we’re going to tackle bears! Why? Because there are a lot of really neat comic book bears out there that deserve their moment in the spotlight!

And then there are some real stinkers. Join me after the jump for a bit of both!

Overwatch is Right Around the Corner

Did anybody else play the Overwatch Beta last weekend? Blizzard has never let me down, so I gave it a shot. Sometimes I did well, sometimes I did not. Now I’m debating whether or not to get the full game when it’s released at the end of the month. Normally I’m terrible at first-person shooters, especially a game like this, against other people.

But if Overwatch has a story mode to match these animated shorts, I may have to definitely consider getting the game.

These cartoons definitely help explain the characters better, at least. There are more than a dozen super-people introduced in this game, and they’re a little hard to keep track of right off the bat.
