An Awesome Puppet TV Show is Coming!
I don’t have many memories of the movie Dark Crystal. It just wasn’t part of my childhood landscape. But the upcoming prequel TV series — The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance — looks awesome!
That is some high quality puppetry! And special effects! This could be one heck of a show! And it’s debuting on Netflix at the end of the month, on Aug. 30!
Good times shall soon be had!

So Scream is Getting an Ongoing Series…Neat!
Scream is my favorite of the symbiotes. I wasn’t into comics yet when Venom and Carnage first appeared, so I never developed an attachment to them. Whereas Scream showed up right in the middle of the Clone Saga, at the perfect time for me to latch on. Not only is she just plain cool by being the first female symbiote, but she looks awesome!
It’s disappointing that she’s only ever been a minor character, but all this Absolute Carnage craziness has led to her finally making a comeback! And that comeback will including a new ongoing series in the fall, called Scream: Curse of Carnage.
The comic will be written by Clay McCleod Chapman, who I don’t know, with art by Chris Mooneyham, who I also don’t know. But I am hope springs eternal that another one of my favorite obscure characters is getting some attention!
I’m also reading the Scream tie-in mini-series to Absolute Carnage, the first issue of which came out this week. It was…fine. Just fine. But it’s also just getting started, so here’s hoping it really comes together.
Anyway, here’s the text for the first issue of Scream: Curse of Carnage:
Patricia Robertson, Andi Benton, Donna Diego… it’s all been leading to this as one of the original – and possibly strongest – offspring of the Venom symbiote at last stars in her own, self-titled ongoing series set in the Marvel Universe! But after the events of ABSOLUTE CARNAGE, what remains of the Scream symbiote as it was before? Does it even have a host? What are their intentions? And what will a pair of web-slinging wallcrawlers have to say about its presence in New York?
Here’s hoping Scream gets to have some fun going forward! It’s a shame they didn’t use her in the Venom movie.
And did you know that Scream is the symbiote character that appears in the Spider-Man ride at Universal Studios? It was a fun ride, but then I was very disappointed that they didn’t have any Scream merchandise in the attached gift shop!

6 Most Excellent Ankylosaurus Characters
Open the door, get on the floor! Everybody walk the dinosaur! Today we’re going to talk about one of the best topics in the world: dinosaurs! To make it even better, we’re going to talk about the best dinosaur: the Ankylosaurus! It’s been my favorite dinosaur since I was a kid and it deserves the spotlight!
Some people out there would focus on the Tyrannosaurus Rex or the Velociraptor. Both are cool, but they get too much attention. And don’t even get me started on the Triceratops or the Stegosaurus. The Ankylosaurus is cooler than them all! Built like a tank, complete with armored plating on the back, and a massive tail bludgeon, the Ankylosaurus is just plain cool! So I went out and tracked down six different Ankylosaurus-based characters in pop culture!
Join me after the jump for six times the Ankylosaurus was used as inspiration for one cool character or another!
I’m 40% Dolemite!
Eddie Murphy is back! This time he’s making a biopic about comedian Rudy Ray Moore, who invented the Dolemite character. I only know the character by name, like when he was referenced multiple times in Futurama. So this new movie might be very informative!
Looks pretty funny. Dolemite Is My Name comes out sometime this fall, I think. And I might finally be able to put some history to the Futurama joke!

Also, You Should Watch Dora and the Lost City of Gold!
The live action Dora the Explorer movie is surprisingly great! The trailers for Dora and the Lost City of Gold looked pretty cool, so I went to see the film this past weekend and it’s surprisingly fun and charming.
It’s got something for both kids and adults, with a sharply written script. It’s easily risen to one of my favorite movies of the year so far. And I’ve never even watched the original cartoon! I already know all my vocabulary.
