Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 7/2/22
Welcome, everyone, to another week of comic book reviews from this random blog you’ve maybe stumbled upon. Or maybe you’ve been reading for a while? My only hope is that somebody is reading so that people know my thoughts on the likes of She-Hulk and The X-Cellent.
Comic Book of the Week goes to The Variants #1 for a nice start to a new Jessica Jones comic, but comic superstars Gail Simone and Phil Noto.
Meanwhile, I just finished Dickinson and very much enjoyed that show. I’m still working my way through AppleTV+ shows. Maybe For All Mankind next? Video game wise, I beat Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge and had a blast with it. Now I need something new to play…
Comic Reviews: She-Hulk #4, The Variants #1, The X-Cellent #4 and X-Men Red #4.

Have you ever read the comic Paper Girls by Brian K. Vaughn and Cliff Chiang? I have, and that thing is a trip! It’s a weird time-traveling, reality-bending adventure for a crew of four paper delivery girls from the 1980s. And it’s getting a TV show on Amazon Prime!
This teaser only hints at the insanity to come from this story, and I hope the show really does it all justice. Though a lot of comic book adaptations these days change a lot of the story, so we’ll see. I have no doubt that TV CGI effects can handle everything the Paper Girls comic has to offer. So we’ll see! I’m excited and can’t wait to watch.
Paper Girls comes to Prime on July 29.

6 Thoughts on Obi-Wan Kenobi (Review)
I wasn’t as super-hyped about the Obi-Wan Kenobi TV show as other Star Wars fans seemed to be. I was just never a big Obi-Wan fan in general. But I still love Star Wars and I’m going to watch whatever shows they put out. More power to them. Now that Obi-Wan has come and gone, I felt it was all just generally fine. Nothing particularly special, as far as I’m concerned.
TV Show Rating: 7/10 – Good
In the end, I feel like Obi-Wan Kenobi was just a simple, straight forward adventure that this hermit Jedi gets to go on. It doesn’t really alter anything we know about the character or the era of the Star Wars timeline. I actually think it adds some unneeded complications that will need smoothing over in all our minds. But I was never bored, and there were definitely some cool moments. It’s definitely not a bad show. I just don’t think it was anything special.
Join me after the jump for my review and all my thoughts on the first(?) season of Obi-Wan Kenobi.

Harley Quinn is coming back, baby! I am a huge fan of the Harley Quinn cartoon show. It’s hilarious, raunchy, scary, sexy, well-made, well-acted and full of all sorts of good everything. It’s been a long wait since the end of season 2, so I’m super excited to share this trailer for season 3!
Looks great to me! The animation even looks better. Crisper? More detailed? Who knows! But everything looks great! And we’re gonna get appearances by Swamp Thing, the Court of Owls, Amanda Waller and, apparently, Nightwing! So awesome. I can’t wait for the new season…but I’m going to have to wait at least a month.
Harley Quinn season 3 comes out on July 28!

Doctor Strange, Animated
Our boy at Tell It Animated is back with some timely synergy, telling the animated history of Doctor Strange to coincide with the home release of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Good times on this Monday!
I haven’t watched the movie on Disney+ yet, if only because there’s so much else to watch in the world. I saw it twice in theaters. This is a pretty good video, even though there aren’t that many Doctor Stranges.
But if Tell It Animated is going to movie synergy…when will I get my Robin suggestion made? Do Robin next!
