Let’s Take Another Look at Pokemon Violet and Scarlet

We’ve seen a ton so far for the upcoming Scarlet and Violet games, due out in November. It’s going to be an open world RPG — which I love — and will have a lot in common with Pokemon Legends: Arceus, which I also enjoyed. Well yesterday gave us even more information, including the stupid new game-specific transformation system.

This looks great! It’s like Arceus, but an actual normal Pokemon game. So all those theories that Arceus was a testing ground are proving correct. So I’m quite thrilled. An open world Pokemon RPG with more detail and world than ever before? Hecks to the yes!

Here’s a video that explains everything more in depth.

So I think I’m definitely going with Violet. Look at those two legendary pokemon. Why the hell does the scarlet one have wheels on its body if it’s going to run everywhere? It looks dumb as hell! It’s got those big wheels just sticking out of its body on both ends, then has to awkwardly run with its legs on either side of the wheels. Meanwhile, the violent one is just straight transforming into motorcycles and rocket ships. Hells yeah.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet still look pretty great. And now that I own a Switch, this is probably a Day One buy for me when it comes out on Nov. 18. I’ll have something to talk to the cousins about at Thanksgiving.

6 Marvel Properties I Want to see in Phase 6

Marvel Studios blew the top off San Diego Comic-Con the other week by announcing all of Phase 5, with teases of Phase 6 into 2025. But Phase 6 has a bunch of holes in it. We know it’s going to start with the Fantastic Four and end with a pair of Avengers films, but what else is going to fill these open spots?

There are 8 blanks

There’s a very good chance we will learn the rest of Phase 6 at Disney’s upcoming fan event in September. They won’t stay a secret for long. But between now and that fan event, I might as well spend some time mindlessly speculating about what I want to see going forward in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. What else is there to fill our days but mindless speculation?

Join me after the jump for six TV shows and movies I hope to see from Marvel Studios in Phase 6! And feel free to share some of your own hopes and dreams in the comments!

The Andor TV Show Looks Really Great

I know the Star Wars TV shows haven’t been the be all end all that we’ve been hoping for. The Mandalorian has been great, obviously, but The Book of Boba Fett and Obi-Wan Kenobi were fine to meh. So it’s a real mixed bag. But the next show, Andor, looks freakin’ cool. We got a new, fuller trailer yesterday.

This looks gritty, this looks serious; this looks like a real, powerful take on the “Wars” part of Star Wars. This looks like a war show, only set in the Star Wars Universe. Is that a great use of the Cassian Andor character? Hells yeah! Is this going to turn out to be a lukewarm, fan servicey thing instead? Possibly! But based on the two trailers we’ve had, my hopes are pretty darn high for Andor.

Andor comes to Disney+ on Sept. 21.

UN-Forgotten Characters: Southpaw

He did it. That mad man did it!

At long last, after nearly two decades of build-up, writer Dan Slott has finally brought us the Reckoning War in the pages of Fantastic Four. And in doing so, he’s finally brought together the characters of Gauntlet and Southpaw as they were always meant to be: cannon fodder for an evil, alien suit of armor.

Most importantly for this moment, it’s Southpaw’s first appearance in more than a decade.

Ah, early 2000s humor

I haven’t been reading Reckoning War, so I can’t exactly comment on how awesome it probably is. But I did recently learn that this moment I’ve been waiting for for many years has finally arrived. Sort of. Not exactly the way I wanted it to go down, but it has happened nonetheless. And I think it’s a neat enough occurrence to mark the occasion.

Join me after the jump for why it’s a big deal that Southpaw is back!

Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 7/30/22

Pretty light week for comics for me, just a couple of Marvel comics to get me through the week. Fortunately, they’re all really banging, like The Variants and a new Ant-Man mini-series.

Comic book of the Week goes to Amazing Spider-Man #900 for a truly special and enjoyable anniversary issue. I hope this is a sign of what we can expect from these creators going forward.

It all makes sense in context

Meanwhile, the Harley Quinn cartoon is back and I love it! The first few episodes of season 3 are out and they’re just as good as the first two seasons. Can’t wait for more! And I just finished Severance on AppleTV+ last night, and it lives up to all the hype I’ve been hearing. Crazy show! Also, DC League of Super-Pets is boring as hell and nobody should bother with it, unless you need to entertain young children.

Comic Reviews: Amazing Spider-Man #900, Ant-Man #1 and The Variants #2.
