Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 12/31/22
Happy New Year, everyone! It’s the last day of 2022 and I’m sure we’re all ready to bid this year farewell and start anew with plans, hopes, dreams and more. And to finish off this year, I’ve got a whole pile of comic reviews, from the end of several comics, like Thunderbolts, to the start of something new with Action Comics!
In fact, Comic Book of the Week goes to Action Comics #1050 because it succeeds in being a nice, new start to a new Superman era. Once again, I will find myself attempting to get into an era of Superman.
Meanwhile, my Christmas gift to myself this year is a Playstation 5, so that’s pretty exciting. It was supposed to arrive today, so if you’re reading this review column the day it was posted, know that I’ll be gradually hitting refresh on the tracking page all day long until it shows up and I rush down and snatch it up! Wish me luck! I’ve got a good year of gaming ahead of me.
Comic Reviews: Action Comics #1050, She-Hulk #9, Strange Academy: Finals #3, Thunderbolts #5, and X-Terminators #4.

The next M. Night Shyamalan movie is Knock at the Cabin, a spooky film where a bunch of seemingly crazy people threaten a family in order to save the world. I know Shyamalan movies aren’t so much hype anymore. But Knock at the Cabin could be darn good. This trailer looks great, at least.
The first trailer was good, but I really enjoyed how this trailer fleshed the story out more. I might actually end up going to see this one in theaters. We shall see.
Knock at the Cabin comes out on Feb. 3.

OnlyLeigh is Alive!
OnlyLeigh is a web cartoonist I really like, but she’s been pretty silent on the creative front for a couple of years now. I get it. Life happens. Well she just came out with a new cartoon and you best believe I’m gonna share it with all you fine folks.
There is much I don’t know about the creative world. I’m a writer, and we’ve had word processing software for a millennia now. So I don’t understand art. Thankfully, we’ve got tutorials like this one to help us all creative better cartoons! Welcome back, OnlyLeigh. Here’s hoping for more cartoons ahead!

My 6 Favorite Things of 2022
It’s that time of year again! The end of the year. And at the end of the year, pop culture sites across the internet come together and share their Best of the Year lists. I’m a pale imitation of those sites, but at least I can share my favorite media from throughout the year. My favorite games, shows, movies, comics and whatnot.
As always, I don’t listen to music and I don’t read books, so those won’t make for easy entries in this list. I’ve got to search for other random entries to get up to six. What will I come up with? Favorite movie trailers? Favorite LEGO sets? Hopefully something good. But at least I devoured a ton of TV shows, movies and comic books this year! So that should be fun.
Join me after the jump for a few of my favorite things from 2022! And feel free to share your own in the comments.

As I mentioned before, I’m a bit behind on Doctor Who. I haven’t seen the last season or the Jodie Whittaker specials…but I’ve totally been spoiled about this 14th Doctor stuff, so I was pretty safe to watch this trailer for the upcoming 2023 specials. It all looks fun, especially the return of my favorite companion!
I’m excited to get caught back up on Doctor Who. Whittaker’s first two seasons weren’t all that great, in my opinion. And I haven’t heard much about that third season or the specials she got. So we’ll see. But it’s all coming to Disney+ eventually, so hopefully I’ll be able to get caught up there. I’m interested to see what these 2023 specials will be about. I would love a really touching Donna Noble episode.
