A Couple of Neat Movie Trailers

It’s movie trailer Thursday! That can be a thing, right? It’s Thursday, some fun movie trailers came out yesterday, possibly through CinemaCon. And I figured I would share. I like movie trailers. You like movie trailers. The world goes around.

First up is Next Goal Wins, the new film from Taika Waititi. It’s a soccer movie set in America Somoa. I guess it was filmed several years ago, and then had some reshoots, and now it’s finally coming out. Great! I love Taika Waititi movies!

Looks like fun. Some solid Taika comedy alongside an underdog sports movie. Sounds good to me.

Next Goal Wins comes out on Nov. 17.

Next up is A Haunting in Venice, the next part of Kenneth Branagh’s Hercule Poirot series. I liked Murder on the Orient Express. I thought A Death on the Nile was pretty mediocre. But I’m all for more of these. There are surely plenty of Poirot mysteries to adapt, right? And if Branagh wants to do it, I say let him.

Looks fine to me! Are ghosts real in the Poirot stories? Probably not, but I’m sure he’ll be fine on this murder mystery.

A Haunting in Venice comes to theaters on Sept. 15.

6 Thoughts on the Third Season of The Mandalorian

You know what’s weird? I went looking through my archives and apparently I didn’t do review lists for the first two seasons of The Mandalorian. Why not? I did them for The Book of Boba Fett and Obi-Wan. But why not for The Mandalorian? What was I thinking? I loved the first two seasons! I love this whole show! I wish I could go back in time in my own mind and figure out what happened. At least present day Sean can make up for those mistakes.

TV Rating: 8/10 – Very Good

I really enjoyed the third season of The Mandalorian. I know a lot of people haven’t liked it, but I don’t know what those people are thinking. It was a fun season, full of neat episodes, and some great character moments. This has been a fantastic show from beginning to end, and I can’t wait to see where Din Djarin and Grogu show up next. They’re great new characters and they went on quite the adventure this season — even if it was a dumb movie to have their reunion in The Book of Boba Fett. What were they thinking?! Anyway, since I watch all the shows, I wasn’t lost, and I had a good time with The Mandalorian season 3.

Join me after the jump for my full review/thoughts on the third season of The Mandalorian. Expect FULL SPOILERS for the whole season. And feel free to share your own thoughts in the comments below.

New Flash Trailer is Even Heavier on the Batman Memberberries

It’s just not working on me. Drenching this Flash movie in so much Batman nostalgia isn’t doing anything for me. I liked those original Batman movies when I was a kid, sure. But having Michael Keaton back as Batman means nothing to me. Especially not when it’s happening in the middle of a Flash movie, and especially especially not when it looks like he’s just going to stand there and spout familiar quotes from those movies.

First it was “I’m Batman.” And now we’ve got “You want to get nuts? Let’s get nuts.” That’s not a Batman catchphrase! Unless, in his continuity, he took it from that one time he said it and turned it into a catch phrase?

Look, I’m gonna go see this movie in theaters. But jeez louise, there’s so much chaos in this trailer. And there’s so much just slavish praise of Keaton and his Batman. It’s just coming off as really cringy to me. But I suppose what do I know? We’ll find out when this thing comes to theaters, and either lives up to all the hype or crashes and burns like the rest of them.

The Flash is coming to theaters on June 16!

Nintendo is Getting In On The Kitty Cat Video Game Scene

I still need to play Stray. A video game where you’re an adorable cat wandering through a city? That just seems like fun! Plus I spent all that money on a Playstation 5. But before I even get to that, how about this new game from Nintendo: Little Kitty, Big City.

Seems like Nintendo took the idea of Stray and its popularity and turned it into a sandbox game. Seems like a winning strategy to me! And this seems like a really cool game to me. It’s adorable, it’s open, it’s Nintendo; I spent all that money on the Switch, after all. Might as well try Little Kitty, Big City. It comes out…next year! Oh, I’ll probably get to Stray before that.

Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 4/22/23

We have another mighty fine week of comics for you fine folks. This is one of those weeks where all my favorites come out, like Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, Nightwing, and even that new Superman. I love a week when all the comics are catered to me!

Comic Book of the Week is an upset this time, with the arrival of She-Hulk #12 to deliver the exact sort of Marvel superhero comic I want to read: a book club meeting! Fair warning, I really go off on this one.

Probably not

Meanwhile, I very much enjoyed the third season finale of The Mandalorian this week, and I’m gonna do a list of my thoughts/review of the whole season on Wednesday. So be sure to come back to that as I blow all the haters out of the water. I’m also considering the Burning Shores DLC for Horizon: Forbidden West, but am otherwise still grinding my way through Gotham Knights.

Comic Reviews: Mighty Morphin Power Rangers #107, Nightwing #103, She-Hulk #12, Superboy: Man of Tomorrow #1 and Superman #3.
