I Have Never Hated Deadpool More Than I Do Right Now
Yet I still really want to play his video game. Check out this new trailer which, in my opinion, features some of the worst, most overblown Deadpool comedy I’ve ever experienced.
The game looks pretty cool. And there are some good jokes. But overall, my God, it’s no wonder that most characters find Deadpool incredibly annoying in the comics! Some of those jokes and comedy bits are atrocious! It’s the same reason I dropped the new Deadpool comic book series after one issue. There is a line at which Deadpool’s brand of humor gets really, really grating, and this trailer revels in jumping across that line. Ugh.
Still, the game comes out sometime this summer, and I definitely want to play. I just hope the actual game isn’t as horrendous as that trailer.
Assassin’s Creed 4 Announced!
We’re big fans of the Assassin’s Creed series here at Henchman-4-Hire, and it is with great excitement that I announce the upcoming Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag! It’s going to be about pirates!
The game is going to be set in the early 1700s and star Edward Kenway, grandfather to Connor, the protagonist from Assassin’s Creed 3. I think that’s disappointing, because I liked Connor and was hoping to see his story continue. But that trailer is nonetheless exciting. Pirates weren’t on my list of potential future franchises, but it’s a very cool choice. The naval missions in Assassin’s Creed 3 were fantastic, so it’s great that they’re now going to become a big part of the new game. In fact, according to IGN, the developers want to make it so that land and naval gameplay are intertwined, so that you could theoretically sail up to a port in your ship, then jump off and run into the city like normal. That sounds awesome.

So the game is going to star Edward Kenway, the most badass and coolest pirate on the Seven Seas. He’s going to be an Assassin, which is always nice, and apparently command the respect of Blackbeard himself! I suggested the Assassins meet Abe Lincoln or Hitler, but Blackbeard is a fine choice.
The action will take place in Havana, Kingston and Nassau, which is apparently the Republic of Pirates. Whoever came up with that ‘Republic of Pirates’ idea hopefully got a promotion on the spot.
There is still going to be part of the game that takes place in the modern day, possibly without Desmond Miles. I’ve always considered the modern-day stuff to be an unnecessary add-on. We don’t need some silly invention like the Animus to provide a reason to travel back in time. Just create a game that takes place back in time. Apparently the developers were vague about the modern-day stuff in the initial announcement. Hopefully it won’t be too big of a deal when the game comes out on Oct. 29 because I’m definitely excited to be a pirate!
Assassin’s Creed 4 is probably going to turn out to be the best Pirates of the Caribbean game ever made.
Crysis 3 review
In my mind, Crysis is one of the most underrated first person shooters that I know of.
Released in 2007, the first Crysis went virtually unnoticed against such competition as Halo 3, Call of Duty 4 and Gears of War. It was a treasure waiting to be excavated by gamers like myself.
The protagonist was a member of a special unit of highly-trained soldiers wearing experimental “nanosuits” like the one shown above. The nanosuit offer a range of special abilities to be activated in-game, including super-speed, super-strength, a cloaking device, and armour-plating which added a refreshing new dynamic to the old “Supersoldier kills hordes of aliens” trope made popular by Halo.
Your unit in Crysis was sent to a remote island to fight a North Korean threat. The short version of the story is that the North Koreans in Crysis woke an ancient, hibernating alien race beneath the earth. Picking up where the first Crysis left off, Crysis 2 began with an alien plague that had wiped out much of Manhattan’s population and brought the city under marshal law. A new main character found himself in command of one of the aforementioned nanosuits, and the fate of New York City (and by extension, the world) rested on his shoulders as the Big Apple found itself being invaded by the alien threat unleashed in the first game: called The Ceph. He defeats the Ceph hivemind, and the world is saved…until now.
Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance
When Metal Gear Solid was released on PSX, its combination of solid, smart gameplay and deep storyline made director Hideo Kojima a respected name among gamers. Followed by the success of three sequels and several portable renditions, it seemed that Kojima could do no wrong.
As such, fans of Metal Gear have been eagerly awaiting this week’s release of the next-gen spinoff, “Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance.”
The game mashes Ghost in a Shell with Ninja Gaiden in a hack-and-slash beat-em-up with surprising depth.
