Yep, Going with Froakie – New Pokemon Starter Evolutions Revealed

I’m sure everyone is very interested in my plans for the upcoming Pokemon X and Y game, specifically who I am going to choose for my starter pokemon. It’s a pretty big deal, dividing pokemon fans into three distinct camps since the start of the franchise. Are you a fire, water or grass starter? I have been a loyal pokemon player since Red/Blue, and don’t plan on breaking my streak of playing when X/Y comes out on Oct. 12. Based on the initial appearance of the starters, I decided to go with Froakie, the water frog. He looks pretty cool.

Froakie, Fennekin and Chespin

Well leaked images of the starters’ middle forms have hit the web, and clearly Froakie is still the favorite. I don’t know what the heck happened to Chespin.

I assume all of that Japanese is laughing at Chespin

Froakie becomes Gekogashira, Chespin becomes Hariboogu, and Fennekin evolves into Teerunaa.

So whereas Froakie evolves into an even more ninja gecko, Chespin evolves into a booger. It’s right there in the name!

The final evolutions have yet to be revealed! So stay tuned to my random pokemon coverage!

Only One Week Until Grand Theft Auto 5!

And the folks at AVByte are celebrating in style!

More people need to write bombastic musical numbers about my favorite video games. I am eagerly anticipating GTA V. I’ve got my new X-Box 360, my big screen monitor, and I even took a day off from work to extend my weekend. Crazy, I know, but if I don’t use my personal days, I lose’em at the end of the year. Name something better to have used it on.

Total War: Rome 2 Review

Image

In every entry into Creative Assembly’s truly epic series, the game thrusts you into command of a historic kingdom, competing for dominance in a legendary time period.  Since 2000, Total War has taken players through the Japanese Shogunate wars, the Roman Empire, the Dark Ages, the Colonial period and the Napoleonic wars.  Now, the series returns to revisit Rome, from the rise of the Republic to the conquest of the Empire.

It’s no secret that I’m in love with the Total War series.  In my mind, 2010’s Shogun 2 and its expansions are among the best, most epic strategy games ever made.  With big, epic battles, simplistic gameplay and a plethora of strategic and diplomatic angles to use, you felt like you were in control of your own expanding dynasty.  And, of course, its cooperative campaign was amazing.

Now, Creative Assembly is trying to recreate its success with a follow-up to 2004’s Rome:  Total War.  The campaign, which can be played head-to-head or cooperatively with another player, allows you to play not only as the Roman republic/empire, but any of more than a dozen other countries between 200 BCE until the fall of Rome. Grand Theft Auto V is Less Than a Month away

Good news, friends! I finally have a working X-Box 360 in my apartment again! And somehow, against all odds, I managed to hook it up successfully to my big screen computer monitor. Now I can switch between computing and X-Boxing at the press of a button! It’s simple and awesome, because for the first time ever, I’m playing X-Box games on a hi-def screen. It is beautiful.

So I am all set for when Grand Theft Auto V drops on Sept. 17.

That’s the latest trailer for the game, and it still looks great. I can’t wait to play it in full HD glory!

LEGO Marvel Superheroes is Like a Yummy Present Just Waiting for Me to Play It

I don’t know about you, but watching this trailer fills me with all manner of giddy happiness. Me want game now!

No sign of Multiple Man yet. But the game has Squirrel Girl, Deadpool, Sabretooth, Mystique, Green Goblin, Venom and so many more. Oh man, oh man, this game is gonna rock! Except, of course, for its lack of online co-op. Why is it that the people behind these LEGO games never include online co-op? I realize the love of couch co-op is very nostalgic, but I’m not sorry that my friends don’t live in my house!
