Lois Lane is the Best Reporter Ever

Being a newspaper reporter myself, I’ve got to give credit where credit is due.

I don’t post nearly enough of these DC Nation shorts. It doesn’t help that I don’t have cable in my apartment. I should do something about that. Or just keep relying on the glory of the Internet!

Fully Full Day of the Doctor Trailer

I posted the small trailer yesterday, well here’s the full trailer for The Day of the Doctor 50th anniversary special. It’s much better, I think.

So it looks like that’s really going to be David Tennant’s 10th Doctor. Here I thought he was going to play that half-human clone that got trapped in that alternate dimension, which would also explain why Billie Piper is back. But having the two real Doctors meet is much cooler, I must admit. The episode will air on Nov. 23. Mark your calenders, it’s bound to be a good one.

Day of the Doctor Trailer!

The Doctor Who 50th anniversary episode is right around the corner, and now they’ve finally put out a sweet trailer!

It’s a fun trailer, though I think they could have done a lot more. This is Matt Smith and David Tennant meeting each other for the first time! They could have done soooo much more with that scene. Especially since the two of them became BFFs on set.

Daredevil, Luke Cage and the Defenders are Coming to Netflix!

Holy Guacamole, people! This is Earth-shattering news! Marvel and Disney have teamed up with Netflix to produce four live action superhero TV shows, which will eventually culminate in a Defenders team-up spectacular. There are going to be live action Netflix shows for Daredevil, Luke Cage, Iron Fist and Jessica Jones!

Move over, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., looks like Marvel is going to make live-action superhero TV after all.

I don’t even really know how to fathom this information. It’s beyond exiting! Everybody has been clamoring for Marvel to do something with Daredevil since they got the rights back a few years ago, and a TV show is a much better, and much cooler idea than just a new movie reboot. Add along Luke Cage and the rest and we’ve got the makings of something truly exciting!

It seems Marvel wants to do for TV what they did for movies with their Phase 1 films all leading to The Avengers. If it worked once, it can definitely work again!

The shows will launch in 2015, and apparently they’ve signed up for 13 episodes each, leading to the big Defenders mini-series at the end. The shows will all be connected by the Hells Kitchen setting.

“This deal is unparalleled in its scope and size, and reinforces our commitment to deliver Marvel’s brand, content and characters across all platforms of storytelling. Netflix offers an incredible platform for the kind of rich storytelling that is Marvel’s specialty,” said Alan Fine, President of Marvel Entertainment. “This serialized epic expands the narrative possibilities of on-demand television and gives fans the flexibility to immerse themselves how and when they want in what’s sure to be a thrilling and engaging adventure.”

All of this is just…just wow! I’m getting chills over here. It’s like the people at Marvel and Disney are really sitting down and coming up with the coolest possibly uses for all of their characters and properties. Could we really possibly live in a world as beautiful as that?

Wait, What? Hourman!?

Following the success of Arrow, and the potential upcoming success of a Flash TV show, DC and The CW are apparently now planning a show starring Hourman. For reals. Hourman!

This guy!

For those who don’t know, Hourman is a rather obscure hero who fights as a member of the Justice Society of America. There have been several different Hourmen over the years – because good brand names never die – with most of them ingesting a magic pill called Miraclo that grants them super strength and super speed for an hour. I apologize to all Hourman fans out there because that sounds absolutely ridiculous.

Which is probably why The CW is going with an entirely different version of the character, at least according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Based on a short-lived volume of Hourman comics, the TV show is going to focus on a hero who can see one hour into the future. He will use that power to avert horrible upcoming disasters in order to win back his wife and child. So it basically sounds like a reduced version of Early Edition. Anybody remember that show? I never watched it, so why is it ingrained in my memory?

I’m starting to think somebody at The CW, desperate to follow-up the success of Arrow, just went down a list of DC superheroes and kept throwing out pitches until somebody shrugged and said, “Alright, let’s do that one.”
