Mockingbird Cast in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

Agents of S.H.I.E.LD. wasn’t a perfect sure, but you better believe I’m coming back for Season 2! And Marvel is gearing up with a ton of new characters and plots. So far, the only new character directly from the comics is Mockingbird! She’s going to be played by Adrianne Palicki, who was almost Wonder Woman in a TV show that never made it past the pilot.

The Hollywood Reporter announced the casting today.

Mockingbird, real name Bobbi Morse, is a secret agent and Avenger from the comic books. She hasn’t been around very much in recent years, but was pretty important back in the 70s and 80s, when she was Hawkeye’s wife. So this is a pretty big coup for the show. I doubt Mockingbird was ever going to make it into the movies, but she’d be pretty perfect on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

She could possibly also guest star in the Netflicks Defenders!

Arrow is Going Wild – Meet Wildcat

Ever since Arrow hit it big (and is spawning a successful Flash spin-off), DC and Warner Bros. have just started announcing a ton of new superheroes for the show! They’ve already announced the Atom and Firestorm and others I’m suddenly forgetting. Well now they’re adding Wildcat, because why not?

He will be played by a guy named J.R. Ramirez.

Named after every high school sports team ever

Thanks to Michael for the tip!

Wildcat, otherwise known as Ted Grant, will be a former boxer who now runs a gym for underprivileged youth. He’s apparently going to play a big part of Laurel Lance’s story arc in Season 3, possibly confirming that she’ll take over as Black Canary before too long? That’s kind of a shame, since Laurel is the worst, but Sarah is the best.

As far as I’m concerned, Arrow can just keep introducing hero after hero!

So Many New Trailers

Comic-Con came to an end on Sunday, and while there wasn’t too much big news coming out of the last few panels, there are some snippets we can all enjoy, like trailers. Unfortunately, all the test footage from Batman v. Superman, Avengers 2, Ant-Man, Warcraft and others isn’t going to hit the web anytime soon. But there are some official trailers we can enjoy on this mind.

Trailers like…

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Part 1

Gotham

Mad Max: Fury Road

Constantine

And stay tuned later today for a possible trailer for The Hobbit: The Battle of Five Armies!

Arrow and Walking Dead Trailers

San Diego Comic-Con is dropping all manner of cool pop culture news on us this weekend! If I was a better blogger, and didn’t have that dentist appointment yesterday, I would be covering more of it. But cavities make fools of us all, and I’m only getting around to some of the good stuff now. But you can bet there will be even more awesomeness over the weekend, so stay tuned.

Though for now, I can share with you this cool trailer for Arrow Season 3. It’s mostly awesome. I still don’t like Amanda Waller, though.

Also, for all you Arrow fans, one of the Season 3 episodes is going to be entitled ‘Oracle’ and will reveal Felicity Smoak’s backstory. We all know what that name signifies, and we might just learn that Felicity was college classmates with one Barbara Gordon! That would be pretty darn cool. Oracle was actually on my original list of DC characters I wanted to see on Arrow!

Moving on to another comic book show, we have a trailer for The Walking Dead Season 5. This trailer looks pretty awesome.

Obviously it spoilers the cliffhanger ending of Season 4…but I think I’m OK with that. The Walking Dead still looks great.

Holy Cow, Red Arrow Looks Awesome!

Roy Harper is probably going to be called Arsenal in Arrow, but I’ve been a fan of the ‘Red Arrow’ moniker since back when he joined the Justice League, before the bad, cat-related times. I was a huge fan of Roy’s storyline in Season 2, and it looks like it’s going to get even better in Season 3!

That’s an even more badass outfit than what Oliver Queen wears! And it’s much better than the silly red hoodie he wore in the first two seasons. According to Entertainment Weekly, Roy is going to start out Episode 1 in costume, a full member of Team Arrow. That’s badass news for this big time Arrow and Arsenal fan!
