6 Thoughts on Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker comes out this week and I wanted to make the occasion with a Star Wars List of Six. I’ve done some great ones in the past, like my list of crazy alien Jedi or my list of other famous wookiees. But for this week’s List of Six, I’ve decided to give my review of another big recent Star Wars property: the video game Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order!

Fallen Order Review 01

Comic Rating: 7/10 – Good.

I’ll probably also review Rise of Skywalker and even The Mandalorian soon, so look out for those. But now I want to delve into Fallen Order, the best Star Wars game in quite some time, and hopefully the herald of some new games going forward. It’s an original story with original characters, set in a very familiar universe. I was wary about the game based on the trailers. And while my concerns weren’t overcome, I still had fun with Fallen Order. It was a quick game, I beat it over two rental weekends, and now it’s time to be super late in my review!

Join me after the jump for my thoughts on Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. Expect some SPOILERS for the game in the review. And feel free to share your own review and thoughts in the comments!

I Demand a LEGO Razor Crest

I finally got caught up on the first couple of episodes of The Mandalorian the other day and I only have one thing to say: I need a LEGO model of his ship. It’s called the Razor Crest, it looks cool, and it should already have a LEGO model. Why does this not yet exist?

Razor Crest 01

It’s an ugly ship, but I want it

If you were to tell me to slow down, that The Mandalorian has barely started and, therefore, it’s much too soon to get a LEGO set from the show, I would immediately tell you that you’re wrong. A LEGO set featuring The Mandalorian already exists! But it’s a simple recolored AT-ST!

That girl’s got legs!

That’s tiny little LEGO Mando’ you’re looking at!

LEGO Mando 02

No capes!

So why has LEGO announced a set featuring The Mandalorian but not yet made a set featuring the only other recognizable element of the show? LEGO loves making Star Wars spaceship models, and here’s a new one for us to enjoy!

The only explanation, I think, is that the upcoming Razor Crest set is going to feature a mini-figure of that big surprise character at the end of the first episode. I won’t spoil the character here, just in case you’re reading my blog without first watching The Mandalorian. But I’d bet big that the upcoming set will feature that mini-fig and LEGO actually wanted to avoid spoiling something for once.

Whatever the case, I am patiently waiting for a Razor Crest LEGO set. Make it happen, LEGO and Star Wars!

The Mandalorian is Only Two Weeks Away!

The first episode, at least. The Mandalorian is a pretty exciting incentive to purchase the Disney+ streaming program. My family and I are going to get a subscription and have a whole host of shows and movies to watch!

And with the Marvel shows a year away, The Mandalorian is probably my most anticipated watch!

Looks cool! The main character seems badass, his team seems cool and Werner Herzog seems a good choice for moody narrator. And holy cow, those production qualities! Is all of that real? Finally, Disney is doing something really good with all of their money. You want to get people to sign onto your streaming service? Spend millions to make the most ambitious television show of all time!

The Mandalorian and Disney+ arrive on Nov. 12. Remind me to call my brother to get the log in details.

New Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker Trailer Sure is Something!

The newest and possibly last trailer for Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker arrived last night and it sure is something! It’s chock full of Star Wars stuff and peeks at characters we knew were going to be in the movie.

I’m sure the movie will be fine. I liked The Last Jedi just fine, and I’m largely interested in these characters. I hope it ends well. I hope there are exciting lightsaber moments.

I dunno. I’m not particularly excited and I’m not particularly worried that it’s going to suck. It’s just going to be another Star Wars movie, and that will be that.

The Rise of Skywalker comes out on Dec. 20!

The Last of Us II Joins Next Year’s Amazing Video Game Lineup

Next year is going to be crazy good for video games. I am most looking forward to Cyberpunk 2077, which will hopefully be amazing. But we’re also getting that Avengers game, Watch Dogs: Legion, a new Vampire: The Masquerade and so much more!

Now we can add The Last of Us II to the list. It’s coming out on Feb. 21.

I didn’t get to play the original Last of Us until I finally splurged on a Playstation 4 last year. I enjoyed the game, but I wasn’t as blown away as everyone else seems to be. I think too much time had passed and too much of the game had infused into the world of video gaming. But it’s still a great story, and I’m excited for a sequel!

I especially enjoy the fact that the protagonist of The Last of Us II is a queer woman. You don’t see that very often, even in 2019.

Heck, the protagonist of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is yet another white male, who I assume is going to be straight.

As much as I love Star Wars, I’m not particularly excited for Fallen Order. Every trailer I’ve seen paints the game as really on rails. The game seems to control what you do, where you go, who you fight, how you fight them; I’m a more open world sort of guy.

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order comes out this year, on Nov. 15.
