My 6 Favorite Spider-Man Allies

Spider-Man: Far From Home is here and it’s great! I saw it last night and enjoyed the heck out of it! It’s another fun Spidey adventure, with great characters, great action and some really great after-credits scenes! Stay for them all! My full review will go up next week!

To celebrate this movie, let’s take a look at my favorite Spider-Man allies!

Spidey Allies List 01

They’re amazing!

Many years ago, when Spider-Man: Homecoming was being made, I did a list of my favorite Spider-Man villains. Spider-Man was one of the major comics I read in the 1990s, back when I was first getting into comics on my own. And I’ve always had a soft spot for both Spidey’s extended Rogues Gallery and his various superhero buddies. Spider-Man is such a big brand that he has other superheroes who exist pretty much exclusively as heroic supporting characters to him. It’s great!

Join me after the jump for my favorite Spider-Man buddies!

J.J. Abrams and His Son Are Gonna Write Yet Another Spider-Man Comic

Marvel currently has a bajillion Spider-Man titles coming out. There’s Amazing Spider-Man, Symbiote Spider-Man, Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, Miles Morales – Spider-Man, Spider-Woman, Superior Spider-Man, Spider-Gwen: Ghost Spider, and I made one of those up. Which one did I make up? Spider-Woman, because that’s not currently a comic, but it totally could be if Marvel wanted!

Anyway, on top of all that, Marvel is going to come out with a new adjectiveless Spider-Man this fall, written by Hollywood director J.J. Abrams and his son. Perhaps this could have been an Ax Cop situation, where the younger partner is, like, 5-years-old and hilarious, but no. Abrams’ son is 20.

Sure looks like Spider-Man

Honestly, I don’t particularly care. Here’s a New York Times announcement interview if you wanna read more. I don’t think anything has been revealed yet about the story, other than Abrams has an idea for a new villain, who will surely be forgotten about before too long. Remember all those fancy new villains we got with Brand More Day? Of course you don’t.

I’ll probably check it out for my weekly comic reviews…if I feel like it. But J.J. Abrams using his clout to get his son to write a Spider-Man comic isn’t particularly enticing to me. I’ve probably liked plenty of Abrams’ movies, but I don’t think that’s going to automatically transfer over into great Spider-Man comics.

Of course, I’m not currently reading any of those titles I listed above. I need to read more Spidey comics…

Also, it should be noted that Marvel preceded this announcement with a cryptic social media countdown over the past week, starting at the number 4. Why do you start a countdown at 4? I didn’t bother posting any of the cryptic hints on my blog because I don’t really want to play the PR/marketing game. I leave that up to the professional comic book websites that are getting paid for clicks.

I’m still just me plugging away at this little blog for kicks and giggles.

Can’t wait for Spider-Man: Far From Home in two weeks!

The Cool New Spider-Man Trailer is Full of Endgame Spoilers

Avengers: Endgame is behind us, so the marketing machine has to start moving for Spider-Man: Far From Home — and that means a ton of Avengers: Endgame spoilers. That’s just the nature of the beast. The new Spidey film is going to pick up a lot of Endgame threads and people need to be warned!

Tom Holland warns you ahead of the trailer. So consider yourself multi-warned.

Fun trailer! We get more Mysterio and more Nick Fury. Always fun.

I highly doubt Mysterio is really from an alternate universe. I mean…come on. We all know who Mysterio is. Just as we know those giant Hydro-Man and Molten Man creatures aren’t real either.

Mysterio is just doing his thing, people! He’s Mysterio! Though why Nick Fury has bought it hook, line and sinker is a good question.

Spider-Man: Far From Home arrives on July 2.

Honestly, Into the Spider-Verse is a Masterpiece

It seems to be a quiet Monday here in henchman land. So how about enjoying the Honest Trailer for Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse? This came out more than a month ago, and I’ve been saving it for a rainy day! Perfect!

They get really clever with this one, which is fun. Being creative is always rewarding and enjoyable. And Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse is indeed a masterpiece. So we’ve got that going for us.

How Into the Spider-Verse Should Have Ended

Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse is a true masterpiece and deservedly won that Oscar. So let’s poke some fun at it! Legitimately, at times, thanks to the How It Should Have Ended people!

Some good jokes there! Though if I can be that guy, a webline isn’t retractable, and Doc Ock needed time to repair the collider, which is why they couldn’t re-do the experiment that day. Though I did love the alternate reality Kingpin seeking revenge joke!

Also, if I haven’t made this clear enough, but I very much dislike the cafe tradition. Stop using your jokey versions of Batman and Superman as a crutch! You’re better than that! You’re funnier than that! Your Spider-Man jokes were great this episode!

Although I will admit the Into the Bat-Verse ending was pretty fun.
